Remote Navigation Question

Postby CiXel on Fri May 06, 2005 7:06 pm

I'm revising a skin for Remote control use. I think I have a pretty good handle on the Navigation system. however, my one issue is this, and perhaps it's best addressed to Colby as his skin takes advantage of it:

I can get every button press to go where I want barring the "Movies" section.
Right now the default is that a button press up or down will scroll between pages. I would like to change this so Left and Right will instead scroll between pages (as is does with ColbySkin2)

My search buttons and the like are above my movie window. If I set the navigation override to go UP to my MENU button from the Movies window, it all LOOKS on in the Skin Menu (ie. hitting up from movies will highlight the Menu Button) But then in practice the "cursor" gets stuck paging. I can move down into the movie window with no issues.

Thoughts?

Bring up the Skin Editor and go to your movies pages. Then select your movies category. In the skin editor select these three tabs

Item
Category
Scroll

In the Scroll section you have "Left Right" "Left Right Move" "Up Down" "Up Down Move" "Snake" and "None". Choose the one that you want.

Thanks, that was just the ticket. It's nice an buried in there ;) but makes sense.

Now any clue how to add the "default" theme's glassed over look to my own?
:)

I'm assuming you mean on the covers for music/movies. This one will seem buried also but makes sense! First you will need to copy from the prerelease version of xlobby:

skins/default/buttons/glass2.png

to

skins/<yourskin>/buttons/glass2.png

Goto your music/movies page and select the appropriate category.

Then in the skin editor select

Item
Category
Display

Click on the "Top Layer" button. Once the "CategoryDisplay" window is open, select the "Image" tab. Select glass2.png and you should now have the glass look over you category images.

That's the ticket... that whole little menu sub section I seemed to miss.
Thanks.

I appreciate the help.
I'm sure I'll have others questions down the line :P
