Girder2Xlobby Help

Postby Dj Elmo on Thu Mar 24, 2005 10:44 pm

Hi all...long time reader, first time poster:-)

I'm going nuts!!! I need help getting the above to work. I have downloaded the plugin for Girde, but the first porblem is it says that the .dll is ment for an older version of Girder. Is there one for new newest version of Girder?

2nd, I can get Girder to recognise my remote inputs, but nothing happens in Xlobby. I don't know if this has something to do with the plugin being older or if Im not doing something right.

Has anybody got a step by step walkthrough that I could follow.
Help would be most appreciated.

THanks all and great program / forum you got here!!1

Be sure to enable the "SendMessage" plugin in Girder, otherwise Girder will not send the trigger message to Xlobby.

Ok,
Now I can get the plugin to work in Girder 3.3.
The command list, lists two folders... default and xlobby.
Now the skin Im using is the Xlobby standard, which I assume is called default.

I put this name in the .ini file in the girder plugin folder, is this correct?

If so, why does Girder bring up two seperate folders?

Im going to go insane

I was not aware that there were a difference in the plugin sdk, I will try to make it compatible
Thanks for your tests

it list the same as the event manager :

- commands in 'xlobby' are the events global for all skins
- commands in "default" (your actual skin name) are the events found under the 'skin' item in the event manager and that belong only to the skin

Cool, that answers my folder question :)

Thats ok about Girder, I hope I'm not leading you up the garden path with that compatability issue. But it definately worked with 3.3

It's getting late down here in Australia, time to give it up for tonight.
If ok with people on here I'm going to list exactly what I'm doing with Girder and Xlobby tomorrow. If anyone can tell me if I'm missing something they can have a carton of beer
(Well maybe just a heartfelt Thanks instead!!)

Hi all, OK heres what I'm doing:
1. Load up Girder with the girder2xlobby plugin and sendmessages. Auto load file is xlobby.GML

2. Ok, now I want to assign a control to navigate down. So go to xlobby folder and drill down to down event. Now I click - LEARN EVENT and assign the down button on my winfast control (I have the plugin for this loaded aswell). Now save the file.

I think its between the selecting the event (down) and learn event that I'm missing something. Do I have to select the send message plugin or girder2xlobby plugin and allocate a setting or target? What tells Xlobby to expect a command from Girder? Or conversely, what tells Girder to send to Xlobby?

Do I have to use Wparam or Iparam for anything? And does Xlobby need to be running or do I have to do anything in Xlobby to make this work?

Sorry for all the questions. As you can see I've only posted 6 times on here and my brain is exploding :D

Thanks again

Likewise…

I have done as the Readme said

“1. copy Girder2Xlobby (.dll and .ini) in the girder plugin directory

2. copy xerces-c_2_5_0.dll in c:\windows\system32

3. edit Girder2Xlobby.ini : change the key according to your configuration :
Path=path of your Xlobby2.exe
Skin=Your current skin (KISS)

4. be sure to close xlobby before continue

5. Start Girder:

6. In File/Settings/plugins :
Select Girder2Xlobby
Click "Apply"
Click Settings
Click "Load Events" --> All xlobby event are loaded, xml files from eventgroups are modified to append a trigger for each event click "OK"

Etc. etc.

I have even got a copy of the msvcr70.dll in the Sys32 folder.

I have the plugin for my IR receiver and Send Message loaded in Girder, and can get the remotes codes assigned to the Xlobby.gml. Save it etc.

However Xlobby does not respond. Am I missing a crucial step like DJ Elmo???

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

NICE...

It appears all I needed was a re-boot.

A quick msg to the French team..

It might help others is you specify in your next release of teh plugin that the SendMessage plugin may be required.

That said...

THANKS A HEAP, YOU HAVE MY RESPECT!!!! :D

the sendmessage plugin is NOT REQUIRED, nobody on the french part uses this plugin. It is girder2xlobby that sends the messages.

@Dj Elmo
Do I have to select the send message plugin or girder2xlobby plugin and allocate a setting or target?

no, the commands in the generated .gml is already the correct one, don't change anything in the command part, only learn

What tells Xlobby to expect a command from Girder? Or conversely, what tells Girder to send to Xlobby?

we use the triggers : xlobby has a number associated whith each event and it must fire this event each time it receives a particular message with this number embedded.
Verify that the triggers have been correctly updated :
in xlobby (event manager) , takes one event and look the number associated to the trigger
in girder2xlobby.ini, find the same event and verify that it is affecte to the same number
Do I have to use Wparam or Iparam for anything?

no, you don't need to use the sendmessage plugin
And does Xlobby need to be running or do I have to do anything in Xlobby to make this work?

How do you want that xlobby responds to your commands if it is not running :?:

if all is correct in the configuration, the only problem can be that the girder plugin could not find the correct window of xlobby, that means that another window on the system is called exactly the same way, what are the xlobby plugins that you use? Wich version of xlobby?
