Xlobby TV plugin design.

Postby wmandra on Wed Apr 07, 2004 8:58 pm

Hello all,
The reason I am starting this poll is to get some input from Xlobby users to help me in development of the TV viewer plugin for Xlobby. One of the biggest hurdles is getting the program to support multiple TV tuner cards, and I would like to get a feel for which ones are most common so that I can code support for them first.
Additionally, if anyone has any feature ideas or suggestions please post them here. Some features that I have already decided to add are client / server support, multiple monitor support, and the ability to control cable / satellite boxes via direct serial connection or ir blaster.
This project is in the very early stages of development, and I really can't even estimate when a beta version will be ready for release.

I have 2 PVR-250s, does that count as 2 votes

What are the goals of this plugin? True PVR support? just viewing? Timeshifting? Scheduled recordings? Multiple tuner support? HW/SW Encoders? Divx/XViD re-encode? So many options, so little time.

But seriously, how large an undertaking are you looking for? Let me know what I can do to help

Chad,
This will be a full pvr plugin for xlobby, similar to the GotTV plugin for myHTPC. So I guess the best answer to yur question is i am expecting this to be a huge undertaking.

for "world domination" Bill you will probably want the PVRx family and one based on DVBcore for DVB-S card users-very very popular in Europe

Though I suspect you won't be able to do the DVB stuff?
