Zoomplayer 5 & XLobby

Postby Roscoe62 on Mon Jan 01, 2007 7:59 am

Hey has anyone had any difficulty in getting the new zoomplayer 5 to work with XLobby?

I just upgraded and at the end of a movie or clip I have set zoom to close, which it does, but then XLobby hangs.

Anyone at all?

I use zoomplayer 5 with XL just fine. My only problem is once and a while the file type commandline gets passed to ZP, opens ZP but the movie wont play, and ZP is hung. I must close ZP in the task manager.

Thanks Colby,

a few more questions....

1) Which version of XLobby do you use...i.e. how old is the XLobby.exe you're using? Mine is around 6 months old so it's possible that might be the problem.

2) The problem you're seeing where zoom hangs - is this with zoom v5? How often does it happen?

Cheers

No the hanging thing is an on going thing from previous zp. Less noticeable in vs 5. I think it has to do with playlist in zp or timing. I mean its like the file gets passed but then it doesnt know what to do. Maybe I have something configured wrong. I cant reproduce it everytime consistantly, so its hard to say. Some movies pass and play others hang. I would look at your settings in zp its easy to have the "wrong" checkbox checked.

Well, I've tried upgrading to the latest version of XLobby and the hanging problem still remains! I've posted over on the Zoom forum and got no response at all!

All I did was upgrade to zoom 5. On it's own it is working perfectly. I use zoom with XLobby to play my database of TV episodes encoded in Xvid format with either MP3 or AC3 audio in a mixture of avi & matroska files. Once a file is selected, zoomplayer opens OK, but as soon as the episode ends, XLobby hangs (I have zoom set up to end when finished playing a file). Alternatively, if I Alt+X to end zoom, XLobby hangs.

There were no such issues with zoom 4.51 (I did have the occasional graphedit error appearing but that's mainly why I upgraded). So, I've gone from a player that was sometimes broken to one that breaks XLobby after playing a selected file.

I've been through all of the settings to see if I can spot what might have been causing the problem but I haven't had any luck at all.

ANY help is appreciated!

I haven't upgraded yet on my HTPC, but I tried on my other machine and all works ok for me.

I have Zoom5 installed and do not have any problems yet. I do however not let zoom get to the end of a movie, I end it with a remote.

How do you have it exiting? Xlobby end event or Zoomplayer option? My setup doesnt hang at end of movie, I have no end event in XL filetype menu, rather I have selected to close player at play complete, in the event handling of the Playback tab of ZP.

I first upgraded on my test machine and it caused hangs there. That's when I tried all sorts of different settings to see if I could sort the problem out, but I couldn't find anything.

I hoped the problem was just isolated to the test machine and upgraded on the HTPC, but the problem also manifested there as well.

scottw, in my earlier post I described how I experience the hang if it reaches the end of the movie AND when I end the program.

Colby, I currently have zoom to end at the end of playback. I've also got an end instruction set up in filetypes. Finally I have XLobby events set up that allow me to stop and exit zoom.

It's possible that zoom's end instruction might be conflicting with XLobby's filetypes end instruction but it was working fine like that with zoom 4.51, and it doesn't explain the hang using XLobby's end event (used when I want to stop playing the file before it ends).

Also, FWIW, if I choose to end the file early, when zoom exits instead of seeing the XLobby interface, I'm left with a still image of the file I had playing when I chose to end it.

I guess I'm just going to have to look harder. :(

Sorry I didn't catch that. :D I can also check on mine to see if anything happens if I reach the end of the movie. I am using Xremote with Girder for my remote.

The way my skin was seup by default was to use the "Send Message" command in XL under OS to close/control Zoom. I have it setup as so:
Class Name: TMainForm
Window Name: Zoom Player
Message: 32817
wParam: 88
lParam: 2

How are you closing it with your remote, what command??
