USB-UIRT little help?

Postby homepc on Fri Dec 28, 2007 6:04 pm

Ok, I have setup the USB-UIRT to move around xlobby using my SET TOp Box remote (basic up, down, right, left, enter) no problem. What I'm not too sure about is how do I setup USB-UIRT to take the Volume Control from my SET TOP BOX remote signal and use it to control the receiver volume control. I have all my remotes already programmed into the XL IR-plugin. But how do I make the USB-UIRT receive one signal and trasmit a different signal?

Also, When I try and LEARN the power on and power off buttons from my projector remote, it only goes to 98% and then stops. All other buttons are learned fine.

Is there also a way to have my remote control a DVD Menu through XL using Media Player Classic?

thanks!!

Use triggers to pull that off...you should be able to send as many commands/events as you would like with one IR command.

Thanks Sharp, I finally understand how this all works. But here is another issue....

I created a TV button. I have assigned the IR commands to change the projector to input 2, and the receiver to input 2 and assigned them to the TV button. When I use the mouse and click on the TV button, all works well. But, when I use the remote, navagate to the TV button and press OK, nothing happens. Clivk the button with mouse, works fine, press OK on the remote, nothing....why? Aren't they both doing the same thing?

thanks

Are you able to navigate around xLobby with the remote?

Yes, I am able to navigate around XL with the remote. I played alot with it this morning and found that if I rearrange the order in which it send the commands, it works. Before I had XL goto a screen, send receiver to change inputs, send projector to change inputs and that didn't work. Now I have XL send projector to change inputs first, then receiver, then screen, and now it all works fine. Not sure whym but it doesn't matter as long as it works.

But heres my next problem.....the USB-UIRT will not learn the power on/off button from my verison remote OR from my projector remote. When I try and learn the commands, in the IR-Plugin for XL, it gets to about 95% and just stops. Sometimes it gets to 94%, 90%, 89%, 98%, but it naver gets to 100%. This happens with the verizon set top box remote for the power on/off button AND the projector power on/off button. All other buttons on those remotes are learned just fine. What do you think the problem is? Is there a differant way for XL to learn those commands?

thanks

Have you been to remotecentral.com to see if you can get the raw code?

Thanks Sharp,

No I have not been there. I will look around there.....

I did try the IRHELPER thing, and I think it worked. I was able to just except the code and paste it into XL IR-Plugin and I think it worked. I have to do more testing, but it looks promising....

Thanks

Sharp,

I went to remotecentral.com and searched for my projector, but it was not found. The only button that I cant get to work is the power on and power off button. All other buttons work fine. I cant get the Ir code to register correctly. Is there any thing else I can do? I have a Sharp DT-100. What if I contacted Sharp directly, would they give me the codes?

Oh and one other thing, I purchased a duel IR transmitter extender. the extender works fine some some components but not others. As an example, I have a remote control fan, and lights. The fan works fine with the extender, but the lights will not. If I hold up the USB-UIRT box and point it to the lights, it sends the command fine, but if I point the extender to the lights, it doesn't work. Would you know why?

thanks

does the extender NEVER control the lights, or just when they are on? i'm asking because I'm wondering if the signal is getting "washed out". Not sure how strong the IR signal is for the extenders. Just a thought.

Thanks cmhardwick,

The extender works for the fan, so I know its sending signals, but not for the lights ever. If the lights are off, it wont turn them on even if its only a few feet away. If they are on, it wont turn them off either. The USB-UIRT box will do it, if I hold it up. the problem is that there really is not a good place for the box to see the remote and the light switch. Thats why I bought the extenders. But maybe the extenders dont send the same signal? I dont know.....
