On the PPC you should find the setting for screen orientation (portrait/landscape) under Start/Settings/System/Screen.

As for Xlobby, I then created a set of PPC screens based on a landscape format of 320x240.

The total cost was just under $2500 U.S. And yes, with 9 drives (8 in RAID + 1 for OS) it makes noise.

Which RAID mode are you using for your server? 0,1 0+1, 5, etc??

The third is a quick walk through of the various screens; music, movies (with password screen for access to mature content), tv/sat/tivo controls and games(XBox).

How are you able to password protect by rating...I thought is was impossible?? Can you give me some directions on how I can do this?

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. I thought It would mean having a seperate database and password protecting that screen.

What I have done is exactly as berniejr thought it would work. I import all my movies into the standard movie db. I then make two copies; one called movies_family and the other movies_mature. I then delete all the "mature" movies from the family movie db and all the 'kid' movies from the mature movie db. I create two sets of movie screens and password protect the 'mature' screens. While its not as elegant a solution as sorting via the DB, it not that big a deal to do (the manual editing of my 300 movie DB takes just a few minutes and you only have to do it once) and it works perfectly.

That method is really ideal in my thoughts, as the method would hide the covers of the movies that I didn't want the little ones to see, not just password the ability to play the movie.

Are you uploading and downloading your database from DVD profiler like I am? If so would I have to sort and split the database everytime I import the .xml file from dvd profiler? I guess I could create two accounts with dvd profiler...one account for movie_family and one account for movie_mature...any thoughts??

Yes, I am using DVD Profiler, and no, you do not need to create seperate databases. When importing the Profiler data using the "On Line" setting under DVD Profiler Settings limits the import to the movies that are in the xlobby movie db you are importing into.

Secondly, I have split my movie storage into family/mature directories, IE: mediaserver/movies/mature & mediaserver/movies/family. This allows me to have unique paths for each DB, allowing me to do refreshes and updates without having to manually parse the DB again.

Opps!! Forgot to mention that I have my movie collection offline in a megachanger so my database fuction may not work the same way. I'm not sure how I could update/refresh my dvd profiler data without overwriting my collection.xml file everytime I do an update???

In that case two DB instances of Profiler would make perfect sense - put mature titles in one and family friendly movies in the other - then when you update you just import the appropriate XML file.

I was wondering if I could get you to part with your wonderfull skin you are currently using, as I am far from a skin designer, however I do know the xlobby application very well and can redo your internals shall we say i am sure easily. However our HT are very similar, I too front projector and touch panel, i am actually using your current heavy metal, but i love your opening screen and 'little' touches you put into the personal one.

so if you want to share it ..i would be greatly appreciated. From one software eng. to another.
