Anyone use XBOX with XBOX Media Center (XBMC)?

I just got an X3 mod chip (love it!) and installed XBMC as my default desktop. This thing rocks!

Now I'm trying to figure out how I can integrate XL & XBMC.

XBMC has a nice web interface as well as the on-screen one. I'd like to control the XBMC natively with XL and not use the web interface.

Just wondering if there are others using XBMC and if they have integrated them at all and how they are using it.

You can call XBMC functions via the web interface or via python. The command set available is only a subset of what you can do from the native XBMC interface.

All in all I wasn't happy with the integration and finally got lazy. If you get something nice working I'd sure like to know.

Maybe we could convince someone to write an xAP interface for XBMC

Can i ask why you would want to control XMBC within XL?

Wouldn't be like want to be able to launch a video clip with winamp form inside windows media player?

Reasons are:

- Only one control interface (instead of having to reach for the XBOX remote)
- Better catalog features on a pc/Xlobby than xbmc

Why use xbmc at all you ask?

- Because we can :-)
- maybe your pc isn't hooked up to the tv screen (like mine)
- maybe the pc is in the basement!
etc.

Tons of reasons - just use your imagination

Single interface is the biggest reason for me.

Here's my planned setup:

PC (running Homeseer, XLobby)
- runs all home automation and home theater functions
SimPad (running XL client)
- my remote for my entire Home Theater and Home Automation system
XBOX (runnning XBMC) connected to TV
- screen output to TV, plays games, controlled via XLobby

Ideally all these would use xAP (XBMC plug-in currently in development) to talk (status and control) and XBMC would be able to be the "GUI" for XLobby and Homeseer.

The XBMC skin ability is definitely NOT better then XL so I maye decide to break down and get a SFF (small form factor) PC to connect to the TV and use the XL GUI instead. But it will need to be able to fully control my XBOX. I actually prefer this but it would cost me a good $500 for the SFF PC becasue it needs to be silent.
