Old PPC setup/Will Xlobby still work on .net 1.0

Help each other out

Old PPC setup/Will Xlobby still work on .net 1.0

Postby scottw on Thu Mar 01, 2007 2:45 am

I found an old PPC I had. It's a Toshiba E740 running WinCE V3.0 or PPC 2002. Apparently .net v2 does not run on this OS. I installed .net 1.0 SP3 and when trying to connect to XL it times out and it cannot connect to the ip address. My other PPC works fine.

Now I have .net 2.0 on my XL machine but I do not know if that matters. It will be great if I can get this PPC to work as well.

Any ideas???

Sure I can help you, there is not much to it. I assume you already have the wireless setup on your Axim and working.
You need to copy the xlobby2sd.exe and servers.txt files (to your Axim) located in the "client" folder which is in your Xlobby folder. You have to configure the server.txt file to point to your Xlobby server's IP address.
You also need to run your Xlobby server as an "Xlobby Server". Just press F2 on your Xlobby machine (with Xlobby running) and got the Xnet section, press the "Start Server" button and I would check the "Always start as a server" so you do not need to manually start it each time. Also you will need the compact .net framework for your Axim, this should be the one: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0c1b0a88-59e2-4eba-a70e-4cd851c5fcc4&DisplayLang=en

The following is from http://xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=19153#19153, this post will give you more info about the other settings in the server.txt file :
Code: Select all
Installation

Ok, you only need 2 files for this client program to work.

xlobby2sd.exe

servers.txt

You dont need anything else, make sure those 2 files are in the same folder.

2 easy steps to running the client.

1. Make sure xlobby is running in server mode on your server machine.

2. Start xlobby2sd.exe

Pocket PC

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE .NET COMPACT FRAMEWORK INSTALLED ON YOUR Pocket PC

.net compact framework

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.
