MCE Remote Question

Postby marz on Thu May 25, 2006 3:56 pm

I'm using an hp remote for windows mce, the controls work fine in xlobby, but when I get to windows media player, my default for video, I cannot use the arrow keys for menu selection in a dvd along with a few other controls. I downloaded girder 3.29 and the xremote plugin, but whenever I try to put the .dll in my plugins dir, xlobby won't launch properly. I don't know if I need to do any added configuration, or what. I would prefer to use win media player because its free (unlike theatertek) and works for me (unlike zoomplayer.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problems Resurfaces

Postby marz on Tue May 30, 2006 7:52 pm

Well, after a few days, and upgrades to my display drivers and wmp 10 and 11, now the remote doesn't work very well. No more menu selection in DVDs, at least not with the remote. The mouse works fine, but the little "cursor" which you would see with a DVD in standard player isn't there. I tried going back to wmp 9, but that didn't work. Now I seem to be stuck. I don't necessarily think its wmp but that is a possibility. Anyone with similar experience or advice, let me know!! If you need me to elaborate also, let me know.

Anybody?

Well, I seem to be the only one answering my posts, but at least I'm making some progress. I found that I have to use a specific codec, and wmp has to be in full screen mode. This is somewhat annoying but I can live with it (for now.)

I've been meaning to test out my MCE remote with xlobby and the other apps i use with it, but haven't got a around to it yet. The little I have messed with it, i've found a lot of good info at http://www.thegreenbutton.com
