Integrating Media Player Classic or another player with XL?

I want to use XLobby to play DVD's and other media. I simply refuse to pay 30 bucks for a media player. It's just not worth it. Has anyone been able to make MPC or another free/open source player integrate with XLobby? Are there any efforts around to just include this functionality in XLobby? If I have to pay for a DVD program, I'd just rather buy a full featured HTPC program. Anyone have any advice?

every french skins use MPC by default, with the plugin Xmpc + xmovewindow...

I did this with VLC Media Player. It worked perfectly on my desktop, but was finicky on a different htpc. :( Otherwise, I would definitely, recommend VLC media player for what you want to do.
