Sorry might not of explained myself properly what i meant was is it possible to show the movie info whilst searching for the coverart, and when the spider finds the coverart the info displays aswell , then both coverart and info can be saved together with one push of a button. Hope this makes sense ??????

I’m not sure if there is a skin using spiders for my movies covers + movies info but it's about the same way.
I think in the default skin, it use spiders for music covers, may be you can take a look on it.

anyway, to use spiders in a skin:

- create a category named spider ( you don't need to select any database for this category)
this category will display the list of results.

-to display information about the selected item in this category, use these variables:

category>spider>info
category>spider>cover

and you can also use as variables:
category>spider>from
category>spider>page

there is also an other parameter for the "spider status" : create a text zone with spiderstatus as text

* how to use spiders with events:

- first you need to create ( and execute an event)in the aim of selecting the database that you want updated and the spider(s) to use.
for that you have a command Xlobby:spider set
in category, put movies and in spiders put the name of your spider without extension
you can also use for example: dvd -* to use every spiders with a name starting by "dvd -"

- then, use an event with the command Xlobby:spider search

- to save info, there are 2 commands:
Xlobby:spider save to save the selected cover
and
Xlobby:spider save info to save information spider save info

last thing, use a text zone with button>input to display the "searching text" you can modify it using keyboard or virtual keyboard.

yep, I think we can build it but the result will not be very nice, there is a a problem using gracenote.com :
for your search, if there are more than 1 result, you will have the list of results then you select one of this to see details. that is good for "spiders".
but if there is only 1 result, you are redirected on the details page.

so I don't know how to deal with this....

also, you will not get cover on gracenote.com .....

tswhite,

I would like to thank you for taking time to do a write-up on the spiders. I had been begging for it for quite sometime.

I had been partially successful in writing the spider for a couple of Indian DVD websites (there is a thread somewhere in the forum). But, being not aware of all the subtle features of regex (especially .NET interpretation), I never got them to work 100 %. This will help me a great deal. You should cross-reference your post in the Document section of the forum too.

Thanks again.

hvs69 - Hope it helps with your development, there's definitely alot to learn about regex if you really want to dig into it.

I took your suggestion and put a crosspost over in the Documentation section.

Good luck!

Hey tswhite,
Let me know if you can inspect the modified epguides spider I attempted to write here:
http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... ght=#27939

it works, but I dont think it's very robust, some searches come up a little funky. I'd appreciate if you could take a look at it.

Thanks,
masta
