Postby tatatoothy on Sat Jul 30, 2005 1:31 am

I have one HTPC\DVD Server that has over 200 movies, trying to set up a seperate fat client to pull from the server. installed xlobby, but when I enter the IP in the setup screen on xnet, restart xlobby it never loads.

Rhinoman,

thanks for the reply. Yes, that's checked, but I had the wrong IP selected, so wasn't starting.
Starts effectively now, but can't see cover art for movies or music, working on that now.

Is the folder that contains the music and movies shared?

Tatoothy, you cannot use Xnet to view DVDs, this is done without Xnet. Are you trying to watch DVDs on the fat client or the server? Is the fat client supposed to be the remote control for the server?
If you are trying to watch movies/DVDs on the fat client, you will need to go to the Setup (F2) and goto the "Basic" page, add the file folders that contain your DVDs, then press the "Import" button.
Good luck.

hjackson,

I'm watching movies on the fat client, and the setup is exactly as you have said. I am using the XNet portion on another ppc for remote on the server.

Any ideas on the cover art?

I sussed the coverart issue last night, when using xnet you must use unc file names ie:- \\server\dvds and not mapped drives otherwise when the database is taken from the server it will not get the coverart or files.

I can also launch movies from my xnet client with the database held on the server.

rhinoman, so I should unmap the drives? for example, on the additional fat client I have the drives mapped similiar to the server, unmap the drives? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but a little lost. that aside, working great on 2 fat clients, and can also see the drives for playing via XBMP on my modded xbox.
