PLease Help - all day hell

Postby dsp fan on Mon Oct 11, 2004 5:07 pm

I am going between forums like a mad man and cannot tell which product is not working properly.

I have xlobby obviously,
Theatertek
PowerDVD
DVDshrink

I have backed up to an IFO file the main tiltle of Gothika and this will play from pwerdvd if i launch it as a file.

If i launch Theatretek i get no option for files and it says that the disck in the player is macrovision and i do not have these settings.

I tried to integrate the theatertek to xlobby and it does not launch anthything.

Is there a document that sets these popular product up like the superb one someone did for DVDProfile which I have successfully integrated into xlobby ???

Thanks I am a regular viewer and eventually have taken the plunge but my lord its hard work.

Hi Tony,
Don't know how much help I can be, but here goes. When you play a ripped movie in TT, you need to first associate the .ifo files with TT in Windows, then launch the movie by double-clicking the VIDEO_TS.IFO file that is in the folder that you ripped the movie to. By launching TheaterTek independently, it just looks for a disc in the DVD drive & can't launch anything because nothing's there & it has no playlist to tell it where to look (although I'm not sure why you're getting the macrovision error). Be sure that the DVD drive is empty, TT defaults to looking there first no matter how you have launched it.

As for setting up TT in Xlobby, if you hit F2, go to the File Types tab. You'll see a bunch of programs highlighted in yellow. Find the one for TheaterTek, highlight it & hit the Enable button, & make sure that all of the settings are correct (location, etc). If you've done all of this & it won't launch your movies, then my guess is that you haven't properly associated the .ifos with TT in Windows.

Hope that helps.

tracie,
thanks for the quick input. Before i try this can you just confirm that by file association you mean going to the file, right clicking and saying open with TT ?

Or is there somehting in xlobby or tt that i have to do to associate.

thanks tony

OK so tt is working and launching the film from the IFO file.

Required the 1.5.64 patch and a re-install.

I cannot get the DVDProfiler to launch the film, not sure where to assoicate the file with the image ??

Any tips anyone. Look through the DVDprofiler document cannot seem to find my issue.

You need to export the Profiler file to .xml file (start menu in DVD Profiler). Then in Xlobby import that .xml file (F2, databases tab, import tab). You also need to import your movie files (ripped movies) - F2, basics tab, add the location of your movies where appropriate & then click import. Then do like I said above to get TT working in Xlobby & you should be set.

tracie,

thanks worked a treat, now i just need to get things like weather sorted and i should be away before i change hardware and everything starts to break again.

I assume each time i archive a movie i need to hit import on the basics area to get the latest list and ensure that the file name ties up with DVDProfiler ??

cheers

I can't remember offhand if you need to re-import each time - seems like if you just hit refresh on the Movies page that it will take care of it, but you may need to restart Xlobby to get it to "take". As long as you have the movie titles entered in DVD Profiler & then subsequently export to .xml each time you add something, that will take care of itself in Xlobby each time a new movie is added (did that make sense?). Play with it some, you'll see what I mean.
