fat client fails to connect

Postby Jay on Wed Dec 10, 2008 6:43 pm

I got a new server and the old one now needs to be a fat client. Apparently I have forgotten to change something on the client.

XNET error message is 'System Runtime Remoting Exception. Found two different objects associated with the same URI,...".
I can't read any further because of the screen res.

TIA

<add> If I bring up Controls (multi-zone) on both machines, the new server freezes. I did copy all of XL, except the core and license key, from the old server, that I'm trying to connect to the new one, as a fat client. There must be a duplicate zone name somewhere?</add>

i thought there was no more such thing as a fat client.
that's it's the full server running as a client in mimic mode, connecting thru xnet.

that is what i am going to be doing with my tablet, running the client.
is that correct, or am i missing something?

I'm just finishing up V2 and will want to take a break before jumping back on the learning curve :)

I sent a LogMeIn request to Wes on the conflict. I did mention ot was the last V2 build. This is the first fresh install I've done in a loong time so I may have forgotten to change something when I cloned the new install on the old server to the new one :?

try 1: delete (backup first) both xlobby.xml and try a fresh run
try 2: Could it be duplicate port number in use? Double check so 8000 and 8002 (not really sure if it is!!)

Lar, it was the xlobby.xml file. I looked at it late last night. There was something that didn't look right but I didn't kill it until I saw your post.
Thanks!
