Newbie Remote question

Postby keithf on Mon Apr 24, 2006 9:14 pm

Hi All!

I have been playing with Xlobby for about a month now. I have a MyHD, and have downloaded the Art III skin and the MyHD plugin. I have Xlobby working pretty good so far, but certainly have a way to go. I plan on using the HTPC in a dedicated Home Theatre, so about 90% of the time It will be used for HDTV and DVD's. My question is, because the MyHD comes with a remote that will do a good share of the stuff I want, can I get it to work as the remote for Xlobby? What will I need? The Xremote plugin? girder? USB-UIRT?

According to this guy MyHD receiver works with LIRC (I know it's linux) which makes me think that it should work with WinLIRC, which in turn should work with girder :) , so you shouldn't really need USB-UIRT. Find girder 3.29 (which is free) and test it with MyHD receiver and remote first, if it works you should be all set (plus XRemote plug-in), if not than you may want to look into USB-UIRT....

if you have a USB-UIRT and use XRemote you are good to go.
I'm not sure what remote receiver MyHD uses, but there may be a Girder plugin for it, in which case you would only need Girder and Xremote.
Right now I'm using a Tivo remote (love it) and USB-UIRT along with Xremote to do everything I need.
I can't stress how helpful Xremote is, I think it's essential to anyone who wants to use a remote

Just wanted to say thanks :) I have it working with a Girder/USB-UIRT/Xremote combination. The whole reason I wanted to go with an HTPC for my theater was to have one simple remote. (WAF) Thanks again!
