xstats plugin

the plugin used to do this will be part of the sdk, just thought I would let you guys know I have started working on it.

little screenshot of the plugin in action, it can access an insane amount of information as you can see. There is actually so much information I will probably just add a couple more things and then someone else can expand it if they want.

Note the outlines around shapes now :)

just wanted to say I probably wont be working on this plugin anymore, but I will try to help anyone that wants to improve it or wants to start their very own based off of it. Check the documentation section for its source code.

Is there a list somewhere of the different strings needed in xlobby to get any xstats info to show up?

the list is very short, its only 2 or three strings....I didnt bother breaking them up one by one....off the top of my head...I think they are.

cpu stats
os stats
disk stats

Well Steve I took you up on your offer and reworked the xstat plugin to be a little more functional.. :)

It can be download from here:

http://www.webshare.ca/~xlobby/download/xstat.zip

Documentation on how to use it can be found here:

http://www.webshare.ca/~xlobby/xstat.htm

This is my first attempt at writing a plugin for Xlobby, and hopefully not my last..

I do hope to add more to it, like:
- pie chart graphic for drives (as soon as I figure out how to send images to Xlobby.. :) )
- memory stats
- video stats

Any comments or suggestions are always welcome.. :)

James4U, just a quick question in regards to your documentation. Under Disk Drive variables and Individual Disk Drive Info, it shows that :
"'##' is replaced with a number for each CPU in your PC". I assume this is the number for the harddisk and not cpu, right? Correct me If I'm wrong.
Will test it out soon. Thanks for posting it.

Nice work - only such small thing: on percentage disk free space, i get 2 % signs:

i.e.

83%%

instead of 83%

My line: plugin>xstats>diskstats>02>%ds_percent_free% free

Sorry Dananik for not replying sooner.
Have been busy on a new release of the plugin..

Here is a new release of xstats, and unfortuntely any screens you had built before will not work with the new plugin.. :(
This is because I redid the whole plugin, I just couldn't get the functionality I wanted to work with the previous version..

Here is the new release:
http://www.webshare.ca/~xlobby/download/xstat2.zip

To install, put both files included in the ZIP in the Xlobby\plugin folder.

I have yet to complete the help portion of it, but hope to complete it soon.. :)

New Features:

Added to OS, CPU and Drive info, Memory, Video, Network & Sound infromation.

Configuration Setup
Image

You can now select which variables you want to be displayed by default.

Variable Display
You can now select multiple devices and variables in a single display command by separating object numbers and variables by using comma to separate them.
ie: plugin>xstats>drive>1,2>%Drive,Description,MediaType,VolumeName%

This will display Drive,Description,MediaType & VolumeName for both drive 1 & 2..
Drive 1 & 2 are dependent on your HTPC setup.
(Later enhancments is to replace 1 & 2 with actually Drive letters.)

New Variable Names:
To display default display of each device:
plugin>xstats>os
plugin>xstats>cpu
plugin>xstats>memory
plugin>xstats>video
plugin>xstats>network
plugin>xstats>sound
plugin>xstats>drive

** NOTE **
Not all variables are availabe on all systems.
It varies from 1 PC to the next.
If you see a N/A in your display, it means that variable is not supported by your system.

James,

I know i am probably bieng a moron but i cannot seem to get this to work.

1 - Put files in plugin directory
2 - Start xlobby - hit f2 goto plugins - xstats is loaded- click configure and get the sreen you posted. Some things are highlighted.
3 - start skin editor - add new text box - with "plugin>xtstats>drive>1,2>%Drive,Description,MediaType,VolumeName%"
4 - I see nothing regardless of what i put in the display:text box.

What am i doing wrong? The plugin is working as when i go into the screen with the text box my cd drives/floppy/harddrive are accessed.

Later
Simon
