how do i display an image?

a bit of a thick question, but how do i display an image that is stored on my disk but not in the skin button folder?

Say i have a picture at "c:\1.jpg" how do i et it to show in xlobby?

I can add it to a plugin, but i guess you can do this easily?

I guess to start with, you'd add the path (<F2>, etc.). But after that, where is the pic to be displayed? On a custom screen, within an existing one, etc.?

how do i display an image on the screen with out it being a coverart entry in a database?

For example i could have a load of images stored in another directory (say c:\updating stuff), if the files are all called 1.jpg, j.jpg etc how can i referacne them in a skin?

i tried obvious stuff like setting the text box to be "image>c:\updating stuff\1.jpg" etc but i cant get it to show them,


I can stick it in a plugin, but it sounds like something that you should already be able to do....

As far as I can tell that's not possible. I think the only two ways would be: one - category; two - place your images in your skin as buttons and uncheck the 'navigation item' box (or whatever it's called). But I think quick plug-in would be the best solution here - you could then keep your images anywhere on your network etc., etc.

i endup up sticking show file, show url in a plugin i had wrote...

you think it would be easy to show the files directly in xlobby tho.
