Multi-zone audio with Revo 7.1 and Winamp/ASIO plugin

Postby alaricljs on Sun Jan 16, 2005 3:09 pm

I'm trying to get multi-zone audio working on my Revo 7.1 with WinAmp and the plugin for ASIO (not ASIO4all). It *sorta* works.

The primary issue is that I cannot get simultaneous playback. I can get the playback to work in the seperate zones, but only if no other zone is playing back audio. I haven't fiddled with any Revo settings, but I was hoping someone could suggest a place to start?

Thanks.

------ Ok, new info...

I can get Zoomplayer to play (WinDVD aud+vid) while the 2nd zone Winamp plays. I am using Winamp 5.08 and the latest DLL version of the above mentioned ASIO plugin.

have you tryed using foobar instead of winamp. i've had better multizone performance using it.
What spec is your machine, as playing multi streams increases the load on your machine

foobar zones

What is required to set up zones in Foobar and Xlobby?

Or am I better off having Xlobby clients in other zones?

Thanks in Advance

To setup multiple zones in xlobby you need multiple outputs on the system.

For me, I am hoping this means my 1 Revo 7.1 sound card using it's multiple outputs for different zones. I'm part of the way there. I have identified 3 stereo pairs that I can output to using the ASIO plugin for winamp. Unfortunately with winamp I can only output to 1 pair at a time. I'm trying to figure this out, and will also try foobar2000. Issue there is the ASIO plugin for foobar is written by the same guy as the winamp plugin, might be the plugin itself is buggered.

On top of that, I have the on-board audio and can use that as another zone regardless of how the Revo behaves. It does indeed work simultaneously. Yay!

For setup, I'll reference Steven's post, It's the 11th post.

I haven't done the foobar setup, but it's probably identical to winamp. You need a winamp installation for each zone (just copy your original installation) that is then configured to output to the correct soundcard/output. You go in xlobby and tell it where each of your winamp installs is, and that's it. All you need now is a skin supporting multiple zones.

alaricljs,

A simple question. Have you setup multiple Winamp directories?

Ok, problem solved... well not really, there is no solution.

ASIO cannot be used on the same card by 2 different instances. The kxproject is a solution that can be used for Emu10k cards from creative, it even supports ASIO this way.

The Revo cannot be used this way :(
