Upgrading versions

I have a few very basic questions:
1. How do I upgrade versions? I downloaded the updates file and tried to dbl click that in the folder after extracting and got nothing but a black screen. In task Manager “splash screen” was running, ending that corrected the balck screen.
2. I just bought a pocket pc to use as a remote control and am not sure where to begin, I am going to buy net remote from Promixis. My question is do I have to set up xlobby in “ server mode’ for this to work? If I do, how do I do this
3. Skinning: do the skins add functionality or do they simply change the look of the UI?
I have Zoomplayer configured as the DVD player and Winamp ad the music player, they both work fine. I have not been able to get beyond these basics. Any help/ advise is appreciated. looks like this is in wrong area sorry never used before

Goto setup tab in xlobby and downloads, then download updates. After they are downloaded click the install the updates, XLobby with install and restart. (green dots indicate latest version, red dots indicate older version)

You will use server mode on your PPC. Mimic will make the client (ppc) match navigation of the server pc. Arent there documents under XL web help about setting up PPC? I dont use it. Also goto chat and ask people there, they all should know how to help you set it up.

Skins add functionality. And change the look. Mostly though they take the commands that are possible in XLobby and organize them in a way that works how the skin engineer want. I know that dalanik's skin works better on tv output than others, mine uses an overlay theme since I use touchscreen, jowaldos and baddabings have a ton of functionality and ppc screens. Different skins, different looks, and different ways of functioning.

Thanks for the fast reply

I went to the Main xlobby screen and did not see any setup tab I looked in every screen avaliable when you hit the f2 button... no luck there either.

I then went to the files button on the main screen and found the update file and tried to run it. I got a message that reads "xupdate.exe can not be run outside of xlobby" I have tried every thing I can think of to apply the update.
I also can not seem to find any green OR red buttons..what screen should these be in?
I am running Alpha 40.2 pre release 14 Please tell me what I am doing wrong... or where I need to look Thanks in advance

Problem resolved..reinstalled latest experimental version
