can't get mpc to play movies

Help each other out

can't get mpc to play movies

Postby Natemere on Wed Dec 07, 2005 9:54 pm

I am new here and would like help getting xlobby to play movies using media play classic (mpc).
I have had success getting powerdvd to play movies but don't know how to change that to mpc.
Thanks!

Press F2
go to file type
you should see the file types associations with their programs.
for program: put your path to mplayer.exe
for extensions: file types you want to played example:
ifo,avi,iso,img,video_ts,wmv,mpeg,mpg
for command line I use:
/play /close "%path%

Thanks for the help, but now it doesn't seem to be playing the correct video/dvd. It plays some other random video loaded onto c: instead of my movie located in c:my movies

Now I removed the video files it was playing from c: drive and it is playing the cover art for the movie and not playing the movie.
Any ideas?

Press next file (chapter) on the remote.
The first file that is played is the jpg and then the avi's/

I don't have a remote. It won't give me the option to track forward when I right click either.
Also, my movies are iso files.
If I click open dvd from the file menu it plays the movie.

what do you have in the field "parameter" of your database a fullpath or only the file ?
to see it, edit movies.xml from xlobby\databases\ or in the set up (F2) section "databases" select movies then press edit.

The parameter is blank.
I am thinking I haven't really set up a database, don;t know.

I have a file called My Movies and inside are files with the name of each movie for example "Polar Express" and inside that file is the ISO and a jpg

Perhaps I should be searching for database info instead of mpc help?

Thanks a lot! this is brand new stuff to me but I can be a quick learner.

yep, you have to scan your "My Movies" repertory or import from dvdprofiler or Ant Movie Catalog.

to scan this repertory, use the section "Basic" of the set up ( F2).

in the repertory xlobby\databases\ , delete movies.xml then in xlobby\databases\templates\ edit movies.xml delete allthe lines and replace it by these:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<import>
<extentions>mpg,avi,wmv,rv,rmvb,mpeg,iso</extentions>
<coverart>jpg,jpeg,bmp,gif,png</coverart>
<folderitem>container</folderitem>
<metamasks>
<mask>\\(?<name>.*)\..*</mask>
<mask>\\(?<name>.*?)\\.*?</mask>
<mask>\\(?<name>.*)</mask>
</metamasks>
</import>

then try a new scan.

I downloaded dvdprofiler. I'll work with that and see what happens.
How do I integrate dvdprofiler into xlobby?
or perhaps what search should I use to educate myself.
Thanks abunch dgemily!!!!
