Default Skin Config. Question

Postby jackryan on Wed Aug 23, 2006 6:17 am

I have tried several skins and call me crazy but I actually like the default colors and layout the best. There are just two things that I would like to change- 2. Adding a button and screen for Internet Radio and 2. Making the movie thumbs a little smaller and fitting another row on the screen (12 at a time instead of 8 ).

Can this be done with XML somewhere or do I need to learn skinning to get this done.
Thanks,

JR

Hi jackryan,

For resize and postion a button, it very easy indeed with XL, just hit "Pause/Break" and goto "Menu" then select a boutton you want to edit or modify, then in "Item" you can find the setting, or simply move it by the mouse or resize it.

Adding new screen and a like, this topic maybe help you more than my post here:

To change the layout of a category, go that screen, hit Pause/Break and highlight that category window (it will have a green marquee around it. click to highlight). Then play with the Column, Ratio, and Spacing numbers under Item > Category > Layout. You may also need to change the shape, size, and position of the box to get it how your want. You can do this by clicking and dragging the corners, or inputing the numbers directly under Item > Default (X/Y and W/H).

Thanks for the responses. I tried the suggestions- Pause/Break, verify the area on screen I want to edit is selected in the Green outline, etc. But when I select Category all the tabs- Layout, Database, Scroll, etc are read only. I have played with this for a bit now and can't seem to edit this page. Is there some extra step maybe I'm missing?

Categories have the green marquee around them by default whenever you open the editor. Make sure you have that box **selected** (click an area within the box and the marquee should turn white-ish green). Those tabs are read only UNTIL you select a category.
