Couple of Newbie Xlobby / PPC Questions

Postby spudgun on Mon Nov 01, 2004 4:31 pm

First off - Steve, this is the software I have been waiting for. I've ripped all my CD's to hard disk and am listening as I speak!!!

Problemo No 1: I can use the PPC (IPAQ 1940 with Wi-fi card) as a remote, I've even managed to alter some of the PPC skins and change the button functions to my own needs...BUT... on the "first" PPC screen (with Music, Movies, Pictures etc), pressing the "QUIT" button does nothing, and I can't find an event to stop PPC screen. The only way I can quit PPC screen is to either remove my Wi-fi card or switch off PPC - messy!

Problemo No 2: On the PPC music-control screen (the one with play, pause & volume control) when music is playing it shows "now playing" and "next" artist/tracks...BUT.... I'm only seeing the artist info (bit annoying when playing album all with same artist!), not the actual track name (eg "Elton John - " "Next: Elton John - "). Again (as above) I can't seem to find a way to show Artist/Track or even just Track.

Any ideas, Xlobby Gurus?

Thanks

Problem 1: It appears that your EXIT button does not have an event associated with it. So clicking it does nothing. You can test this by bringing up the full version of xlobby, going to the help screen (F1) and launching the Pocket PC screens. If clicking the exit pushbutton there does not close Xlobby - then you have the source of your problem. Since you say you have changed button functions I'm guessing you know how to change or add an event to a button. The event you want to add is imported:exit xlobby

Problem 2: You will need to edit the "Now Playing" and "Up Next" variables to get the data you want displayed. Colby has written a doc on using variables that you can find here: http://www.xlobby.incolby.com/EventVariableSheet2.htm Look under XLOBBY Category Display Variables and you will find entries for track number, artist, track name, etc.

BaddaBing (great name by the way!) -you are fantastic! Just one thing, though (excuse my stupidness) will the event exit xlobby shut down the ppc screen on my pda or shut down xlobby on the server?

What a great and helpful forum - my first post and my problems were answered within hours!!

Kudos all round.

Many thanks BaddaBing, I will try your suggestions.

Just make sure you add a command in event manager-imported-ppc- "exit client" then xlobby will know if its the full version or a client.

John (rhinoman) is right, using the command he suggested will shut down just the PPC and not the full version.
