Setting up a Media Server

Postby Scarpad on Thu Mar 04, 2004 1:41 pm

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried running XLobby on a Client machine streaming Audio and Video over a wireless connection to the server. All my Wireless is 54g connections. Would this be fast enough to stream video from my Office server? I know Xlobby works fine for MP3 playing using my connection.

i have streamed ripped dvds of the servers hard drive on a g wireless network and found it works prefectly with no stuttering. but problems started when other activities on the network were happening at the same time. so i now use wires.

my other activity would just be my Tivo occasionally onnecting for data but this usually happens overnight. So if the Load was low I think I should OK

I've just tried a dvd on my G network via theatretek to my laptop and its a bit skippy at best even though my network card is reporting 86% quality.

Here in belgium that goes good ! Even with a 10 mbit wifi connection like mine ! A bit slow in loading the movie but then, it runs like hell ;-)
