Be Gentle! - Slightly updated

Postby Twit on Sun Mar 28, 2004 6:23 am

I was going to post my skin last week but after seeing jowaldo and noviceboys skin I backed off. There's are really awsome. Then I though I would show mine just to show a really basic, remote only skin. (and so everybody else did not feel bad, like me, about thier skins) Designed by someone who has no idea how photoshop works!

Please take into consideration the following before flaming me:

1 - I have no artistic talent what so ever ,so everything is 'borrowed'.
2 - My wife is a technophobe so it must be really easy to operate.
3 - There is no mouse or keyboard at all on my htpc.
4 - It operates via girder.
5 - My remote has the play/pause/skip etc buttons on it.
6 - It also has a playlist and nowplaying button.
7 - It also has filter buttons on it and reset.
8 - At the main menu screen i enter a 4 digit code to get to the exit screen - prevents little fingers from and accidents.
9 - It outputs to a below average 74cm TV. If i make the text too small you cant read it. Same goes for album covers.
10 - If its green its for information and if its red its where the "cursor" currently is.

On my music screen I use the set database command to change databases on the fly (on a layover). Does anyone know how to put the current 'set database' in a text box, so i can see what the currently loaded database is?

MAIN MENU:
I have a button to playlists as this is the wifes favorite screen to use.

MUSIC SCREEN:
Don't bother with arrows as the covers scroll when they are "highlighted" and you go left or right.

MUSICVIEWER SCREEN:
Pretty standard. I have a back button on my remote.

PLAYLISTS SCREEN:
Dead easy to use - wifes favorite screen.

KIDS MOVIES:
I have a small seperate remote. It has a big red button on it which the kids push to jump straight to this screen. It has a stop movie button and 0-9 buttons. They push the red button and then the number of the movie they want to watch. They are 3 &5 years old so had to be simple.

Wow this is looking nice.
For me this looks like doing by a proffessional.Remember that graphics isn't all about managing the "right" software but have the creative way to get the endresults which you have clearly managed to do here.

Can we download it somewhere ?

OK - Have posted the skin - get it quick as it will not be there for long.

My ISP will probably bitch in a day or so.

Simon,
Looks good! I agree with the simple approach - my husband can't really figure out how to navigate Xlobby, so I'm in the process of redoing things so he can. Looks nice & real easy for those that are technically challenged. Nice job!

Nice job Twit. I think the bottom line is we all have different ideas, but if we all post 'em, we can all gain from somebody elses idea.
