No Audio Winamp or Foobar (new User to Xlobby)

Postby BillC on Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:20 pm

Well I am a new to Xlobby and I think I am having fun? I have some programming background and have configured and imported some databases into Xlobby. I have used Meedio on a trial basis and am still looking for the best for my purpose.

I have not been able to get any music to play with Xlobby, I did down load Winamp and then found the post about the new version not working.

I then tried to find the older version and have had no luck in getting Winamp 5.09 ??? I tried loading Foobar 2000 and placing it in the general load and it does load but still no luck getting any files to pass control to Foobar.
Can any one HELP?

What am I missing?

When you start up xlobby, do you see winamp also start up? When Xlobby is running, minimize your Xlobby screen. Do you see the Winamp icon in the botom taskbar?

Using foobar has 3 steps involved.

1.) Install foobar on your computer
2.) Add xlobby plugin to foobar install tree directory. ie. C:\Program Files\foobar2000
3.) Add a foobar/winamp zone. You do this in setup (F2). Then select "General" and add the path to foobar exe ie. C:\Program Files\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe

More details are in this thread
http://xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3040

To use winamp you make sure the foobar/winamp zone in the seutp (F2) points to your winamp exe. I have no experience with the 5.1 winamp so I can't comment on it working or not.

Got it working

Postby BillC on Thu Sep 22, 2005 1:20 pm

Well thanks for the help I finally got it to work with Foobar2000. I tried all sorts of things, it was not cleat to me if the plug-in was to go in the Xlobby plugins directory or where so I looked at the Foobar directory and saw it had a components\ dir so I added the files in the structure shown on the link abobe and it WORKS.

Thanks

Glad you got it working. Yeah that is a little confusing at first.....that is a xlobby plugin residing in the install tree of the 3rd party program. I edited my post to make it a little clearer for future reference.

FWIW, previous versions of Winamp (less bloated) can still be found here.
