Zoom Player sound with KX Drivers

Postby scottw on Tue Dec 26, 2006 2:01 am

I setup my SB0600 with this setup:

and winamp works fine but if I change zoomplayer to play thru one of the KX channels, 4/5 for example I get no sound.

Any ideas on what I can try???

Thanks.

I had the exact same problem. Winamp, PowerDVD, WMP, every media type player seemed to work. When I tried to use Zoom, I could never get that to output audio.

Sorry, but I never did figure out how to fix. Just wanted to let you know that you were not alone with this problem.

Maybe ask on the kx forum. They are pretty good over there at helping with problems with their drivers.

Hope this was helpful.

Something I had noticed tonight was if I set one of my KX channels as the default device for Sound Playback (say 4/5) in the sound control panel I can then get sound thru that channel in Zoom. So I must have it setup correctly in the KX DSP, thank god because I am lost on that, so it must be something in Zoom.

Did you discover this as well Marbles?

I think one good choige (with 1 kX card) would have two different kX DSPs, one for 5.1 to 7.1 channel movie sounds, and other for stereo zones configuration. If u run movie sounds out of digital outputs and stereo zones from analog outputs u would not need to change wire configuration or have external switcher to perform it for u. If u r not handling DSP setup too well u could use basic included one for movie sounds and marbles setup for zones. Now only problem in the idea is changing between DSPs, well that is just simply loading new DSP but it would be grand to do it inside xlobby. I think it might be possible to do with kXctrl, also i could actually add support for changing DSP to my plugin kXd...

OK I think I am on to something here. I was using Zoom Player ver. 4.51 and after reading some posts on their forum I installed ver 5 RC3 and can now switch to one of the KX channels and it seems to work. I will know more later but this does seem promising.

Hope this helps someone out.
