multiple audio zones on v3 - volume control

Postby billberet on Fri Dec 19, 2008 1:46 am

hey again
ok on v3 i have 3 sound cards, and 3 zones.

when i'm in the control overlay in xlobby, i can only control the volume of a specific zone with the volume controlls on the right side of that zone
not the volume controlls on the bottom.

example, if i am in my primary zone (default directsound device) play music, i can control the volume with that volume control on the music detail screen.
second, if i go into control, and choose zone 2, then back out, now zone 2 is my active zone.
i go into my music, and choose an album and play, i cannot use the volume control on the music detail page.
i have to open up the control and use the volume controlls on the right side of that zone.

any ideas on how to set this up?
it seems that only the default directsound device uses the volume control on the music detail page. Shouldn't that volume control affect the current active zone?

***edit*****
I just looked thru the events for volume control, and the event is linked to 'master volume adjust'
i guess that answers my question above why it only works for default sound device.

Wes, question:
is there a way to make volume control effect the active zone without having to go into controls to edit volume.

bb:

It's been awhile since I played with the volume controls and I am not on my XL machine right now but give this a try:

1) Open the screen editor (pause/break) and go select control screen where all the zone volume controls are.

2) Select the volume buttons you want by holding your shift key down while mousing over the buttons you want to select them.

3) Copy (ctrl-c) the selected buttons.

4) Go to your zone screen and paste (ctrl-v) the copied volume control buttons onto the zone screen.

5) Resize and reformat the screen to fit the new buttons.

Good luck!!

hey,

yea i was trying to avoid that scenario but it looks like i have no choice, i'll use the volume on the control overlay to copy to the pages i need.

good news is Wes is adding this request to the Mantis system, this way the volume control is always linked to the current zone.

thanks again
