ShoutCast and Playlists

Postby Dj Elmo on Tue Mar 29, 2005 11:24 am

Hi all. Now I have got my Girder working (and again thanks to all for the help) I have another question.

I am using the Heavymetal skin (very nice :) .
I want to remove the current stations and replace them with the ones that plsdownloader has retreived.

I have used the Shoutcast to XML script, but when I go back into Xlobby under net Radio nothing appears. When I hit F2 and edit the database the list is there, but the stations are all under a sub heading.

I guess my question is two fold:
1. How can I get all the stations listed to start off with?
2. How do I then sort them in to folders?

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks again
Dj Elmo

1. go to the skin editor (break key) select the zone where the net radio was displayed. then in the skin editor, "category" tab, "databases" sub-tab, select your database that you want it displayed.

2.your database radio build by using Shoutcast to XML script, is the same structure as your music database, so if you want to sort it, use the same events as these used for the music database.
you can sort it by name, genre and birate...

Do playlists then actually provide any benefit in Xlobby?

If so, what do they do?
From what I can tell they don't affect the use of the Net Radio side of things in the Heavymetal Skin.

Second thing, I now have all my radio stations listed with a one click system. How do I now organize them into sub folders?
Eg Dance stations under a Dance folder on the Net Radio screen?

Sorry for all the questions, hope i'm not pushing my luck

Thanks again all

I'm not sure, but I think we need to modify the database ( maybe not , using the sort events or the sortable databases)... I will try to check out and maybe modify the vbs but for the moment I don't have too much time, I have a lot of things to do....

on my radio page i have 20 genre image buttons at the top.
click one, and it will change the listing of over 400 stations to the genre specific ones.

There is also a favorites button so you can tag and untag stations; one of the genre buttons then shows only favs when selected.

Is this what you mean?

edgley,
I suppose that you use my shoutcast database or you use one build by Shoutcast_to_xml script, don't you ?

if yes, is it possible that you send to me your skin ? I interested to look at how you organize your screen radio, to see how you use the sortable and favorites fonctions ?

thanks

Done.

I am using your db.
I just this afternoon to use the downloader to get all the stations.

The problem is that after downloading only a few, it goes on pause and wants to wait hours before trying again. At the rate its going it will take forever.

How did you get yours so quickly?

Yep, I didn’t get them very quickly, you should change your IP to download an other time, or you have to wait:
The shoutcast.com site limits requests per IP address per day. Please respect their policies.
I didn’t remember me that we have to wait so long before restarting downloading pls files…

Yep thats perfect :D
How'd ya do it ? I thought I had a lot with 77 stations, imagine goin through over 400 without them being organised

Hey if your feeling really generous, that db would be greatly appreciated down here in Aussie. I would be forever in your debt :)

Got this working now.
But I'm having to modify the database manually in Xlobby under the DB editor and drag the actual web links out of the tree there in and into a new folder. Does this make sense????

Its almost like draging a file out of a folder and placing it in a new one.

This way I can give the initial button a GENRE and then the stations appear inside.

Now just got to finish them all. If anyone wants a finish DB let me know :)

you dont need to do that.

Just add a category onto your skin and link it to the database.
