Need some help with playlists...

Postby Robertsonland on Mon May 30, 2005 4:15 pm

Hi, I just started using XLobby for my son's computer to help him load his movies on his own. He's 4 years old so not quite adept at loading programs and picking stuff since he can fully read yet.

The movies work great and now my wife has asked me to do something for his music.

I'm wondering is there a way to either pick a cd and play all tracks in it without having to select a track and play it (So you click on the CD cover and it starts playing (while showing controls) or be able to put playlists in the playlist directory and have those show up (with some graphics) so my son can click on those and have the playlist play. I'm using winamp and I've got it working but it's a bit more complicated than I would like it to be for him. His sister (2 years old) uses this too so I'd like it as simple as possible.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me.

Well Robertsons' youre in luck. It is easy sneezy. Its good to hear your 4 year old is and Xlobbyist too.

All you need to do is create a page with a music category and the controls you want. Then add the play or add album event for the category. Not open track details. IN the skin editor you would remove the details line of the category which probably says overlay:album tracks or something. When the kids click a cd thumbnail, it will just play. You can have a playlist layed out with thumbnails ,as well, since your kids cant read yet anyway. That is a category display option. BTW what skin are you using?

A kids skin sounds fun, I may be up to that!
