Control Girder from Xlobby (no, not the other way around)

Postby flips on Thu Jan 04, 2007 3:14 am

I'm using my pocket pc to control xlobby, and it would be really great for me to be able to turn on my receiver, and set the mode, etc from my PPC interface. I already have marcos set up in Girder so I press one remote button and then there are multiple transmits (from USB-UIRT) that turn on the TV and the receiver and set the right modes. It works okay. I know the best way would to use a receiver that has serial control, but I don't have one of those... yet... :)

Is there a way to issue Send Message commands from xlobby? And is there a way to tie a SendMessage command to a girder command?

I really hope this isn't aleady covered somewhere. I spent a lot of time searching, but everything was about controling xlobby from girder.

Thanks,

I know it isn't exactly what you asked for, but you can do what you are describing w/o using girder at all. It would require teaching XLobby your ir codes to send, but once that was done you could just have XLobby send the commands from the USBUirt.

Good luck,

there is a little executable supplied with girder called event.exe or something similar. It takes values as parameters and causes a girder event when executed.

So event.exe string1 string2 ... etc.

generates a girder event and whatever is in string1 and string2 end up in girder's payload registers so you can do whatever is needed with the info.

I think you should be able to execute event.exe at will from within xlobby.

Have you tried using the Girder Send Event String event in Xlobby Events? This definitely works for Girder 3.2.9. If your using Girder 4 check out this thread: http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5119

good luck,

Great. Thanks guys.

I didn't know that the built in IR capability in xlobby was so powerful. That might be all I need to do.

I should have noticed the girder send event built in. I will have to try that or I can just call the event.exe.

Wow. So I went from no options, to 3 options. I think I should be able to get this working.

Thanks,
