Help each other out

backing up with dvd decrypter, need to play

Postby tatatoothy on Fri Nov 05, 2004 11:58 pm

Still a newb, but here's what I'm working with.

Have external drive where I store my Movies and Music, Z:\Media\movies, etc

have ripped each to a folder such as Z:\\Media\movies\movie 1

Should I rip to a readable ISO, or do a full disk backup?

Do i need, or how would I need to, load all of the VOB's etc if I do a full disk backup.

This app rules so far, please help :P

when you rip all the vobs make sure your directory is like this

C:\movies\abyss\video_ts\(all vobs and ifo files here)

Should I rip to a readable ISO, or do a full disk backup?

personal preference really, if space is an issue dont do an ISO backup they are usually huge for new dvds. And by not doing an ISO backup you can strip stuff out like extra features...additional sound tracks...etc to shrink the dvd size.

I've been ripping to .vob using dvd decrypter. I use dvd decrypter to capture the enitre disk as ifo and vobs, then I use dvd shrink to strip out all the junk I dont' want which keeps the movie flawless and to a manageable size.

Naylia,

DVD Shrink can do the whole thing, is there a reason you do 2 seperate steps?

stevenhanna6,

I'm out of town for work until wednesday but will try it as soon as I return.

good point about the vob's, I'll continue in that format.

one last question, may be a dumb one, but doesn't matter if I keep everything on a seperate drive, as long as I do the import, correct?

ok, maybe that wasn't the last question, do you use dvd profiler?

stevehanna6,
changed all the paths, to listed, still not working. I'm going to start over today, remove Xlobby, reapply and see what happens.

I picked up TheaterTek, will follow the instructions for config and see what happens. Thanks!!!!

starting from scratch

stevehanna6,
ok, startin over. Previously I downloaded the preconfig version, the msi with zoomplayer, etc. This time I'm just going with the basic install, since I'll be using TheaterTek.

I have all my movies stored as such:

z:\media\movies\movie name (same as the title appears in dvd profiler)\VIDEO_TS\all files ripped from DVD Decrytper here

Once download, I'll follow the normal import, but then what?

What triggers do I need to set up?
