First Post- Looking for a little help!

I have successfully gotten started with xlobby including adding skins, adding photos and music.

1. Is there a way to run a slideshow that is random? I have over 1000 photos and I like to share them but in a random slideshow fashion.

2. My music collection does not fit into the norm, in that I don't own full albums so the album jpg's don't fit my files or there are no jpg's at all. I read that I can put the .jpg into the file with the music but I had no success with that. Basically, how can I put a random jpg as a representation of the music, like a photo of the artist? Also, can I dictate the description of the "albums"?

Thanks!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard fellow Missourian.

Q#1 I will have to look. Maybe you could make a filter to filter what seems as random then do a slideshow. The slideshow presents what is in the category. Hmmmm..

Q#2 If your music was organized by album, folder per each, then a jpg within that folder would act as the coverart. If your music is organized as a bulk folder of mp3s then you will need to assign it coverart through spiders or manually. You could edit the database manually and browse for coverart path. You could add stills (additional images) or you could add additonal tags for images as skin://

There are various ways all of which would be time consuming. I would first organize my music as albums. Who knows you may Download albums in the future anyway. If not, secondly use spiders to recover art. this may or may not work. Lastly I would go in and manually edit my database. Be sure you back up your music db after you add art so you wont have to redo it all if there is a crash.

Basically what I want is to be able to hit slideshow and have my pictures change like they do when you have your pictures on screensaver. Is it possible to make that button turn on screensaver?

Yes. Here's one way, assuming you already have the slideshow set up as your screensaver.

1. Download a simple utility called NirCmd, unzip it, and put it anywhere on your harddrive.
2. Load Xlobby and hit F2.
3. Click on the "Events" menu and either create a New Group (calling it whatever you like) or within an existing group click "Add Event."
4. Name the event Start Screensaver.
5. With the event highlighted, scroll down to "OS" under the Command tab on the right side of the setup screen.
6. Click on "Execute File" and then browse to where you put NirCmd and select it. In the Arguments field, type screensaver. Click "Add."
7. Close the Setup window and go to your menu, or whatever screen has the button you want to make turn on the screensaver. Hit the "Pause/Break" key on your keyboard to bring up the Skin Edit.
8. Click on the button you want to change and make sure it is highlighted (dotted marquee around it). Click on the "Event" tab in the Skin Editor, click "Remove" and then "Assign." Scroll down to whatever grouping your new Start Screensaver event is in and then click assign it.
9. Close the Skin Editor and test, but you should be good to go!

WOW! That was very helpful! I can't thank you enough. I was really thinking I wouldn't be able to accomplish this idea. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I will let you know how it goes.

You're quite welcome. I've gotten a ton of help here from others, and am still a bit of a newbie myself, so I'm very happy any time I can "pass it on" :D
