Multi-monitor support of Photo Slideshow

Got an idea, post it here

Multi-monitor support of Photo Slideshow

Postby rembetis on Mon Oct 10, 2005 10:03 pm

A growing number of people seem to be using one (touch)screen for control of Xlobby and another for viewing content (movies, etc.). As such, I think the ability to send the photo slideshow to a second monitor would be really appreciated -- certainly by me anyway. I know nothing about coding, but since Xlobby already includes X/Y positioning, it might be as simple as including that feature within individual modules, so that one could choose what is viewed on what monitor.

Just a thought...

can't you just use the Windows slideshow and just have it only display on the 2nd screen?

Hmmm.... hadn't thought of that. And how would I get it to display on the secondary monitor? With XMoveWindow? (I'm running an AIW 9700 Pro). For that matter, how would I automate the "open with Windows slideshow" part from within Xlobby?

Still a bit of a newb, obviously...

You can use Infranview for your slideshows, it's free and scriptable. One of the command line options is /monitor=x where x is the monitor you want your slideshow to start on. It also allows you to display IPTC info if you wish to add text to your slideshows. I use it on several 'Walltops' that I've built using old laptops.
