ERROR "xlobby2 - Common Language Runtime Debugging Serv

Postby manalex on Sun Jun 13, 2004 9:29 pm

I was running pre 17 version of the program. Suddenly, I'm getting this message when I try to start it up...
______________________________________________________
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0xabc, Thread id=0xc48(3144).

Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.
_____________________________________________________

The numbers in the message change each time I try to start it up. When I hit CANCEL I get another error telling me I can't debug. Tried to delete and reinstall, but still get the same error. Same error also comes up when I try to run the older realease (pre 14)

Any ideas? Any other info I can give to help resolve the problem?

this is a completely fresh install and its doing this? did it ever work? maybe reinstall the .net framework...thats what I would try if this is what happens on a fresh install.

Okay, more clues. I'm going to be running this in a client server setup, earlier the server side was the one with the error and the client was working fine.

Both machines are running fresh installs of XP Pro. Here's the thing though. I went through the 99 Performance Tweaks for WindowsXP and now I've got the same thing happening on the client pc. I'd already done this on the server side.

I used system restore to step back to earlier tonight, before I started the tweaks and it works. So, it's something on this list. I'm going to step through and see if I can figure it. Weird though.

Okay, found it. At least for my case. It was Tip 21. Disable performance counters . I went back and turned them all on again and xlobby is running again on both machines. :)

Steve:

Tried the following:
Reinstalled Net Framework-still same error
Tried the "Tip 21" fix-still same error
Tried your new attachment-still same error

this is not a new install, I've been running Xlobby for a few months now including v17. No new installations on my computer-it just started happening. Let me know what other info you need to get me back up and running as before.

Thanks

similar problems

Postby incoronado on Fri Jul 09, 2004 1:44 am

I'm having very similar problems. I have two computers. One that runs Xlobby flawlessly and the other gets the same debugging error that is described in this post. I suspect video drivers, or other hardware drivers, to be the culprit. Can we compare hardware?

XP Pro w/latest updates.
Radeon 9800 Pro
Hauppauge pvr-350
AMD 2800 XP
512 MB

I have killed every non-critical process. I'm pretty sure this is not a 3rd-party software problem.

I'll do what I can to solve this problem. It looks like we have similar systems, your's has got a bit more horsepower though. Here's mine:

XP Home Edition with all updates installed
ATI Radeon 7500 AIW
Pentium 4 1.8Ghz
512MB RAM
Creative SB Audigy
Logitech Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

paste the full error message you guys are getting. I know you pasted one at the beginning of this thread...but it doesnt help me.

Ever try running xlobby in safe mode? not sure if that would help diagnose....I'm really lost at what could be causing this.

I'm afraid that is the whole error message. Then if you hit "OK" it just terminates the thread. If I hit "Cancel" then a message about on JIT debugger found on my system.

FWIW, I'm just a totally fresh user that wanted to check it out. Basically I:

1) Downloaded the latest .NET from Windows Update
2) Downloaded your two ZIPs (2pre14 and 2pre28)
3) Used the files from 2pre28 to overwrite ones in 2pre14 (assuming that's correct)
4) just tried to launch Xlobby2.exe

I can try running it in safe mode, but I have no idea how :D This was just a first download...

I don't know hw to paste the image into the reply. But it is as described above.

Also tried this in Safe Mode-same error.
