xlobby with logitech harmony 659???

Postby buffotoad on Tue Jan 16, 2007 11:34 pm

In an effort to control all my devices with just one remote, I am trying to get a Logitech Harmony 659 to work in Xlobby.

I am using the IR receiver that came with a Microsoft MCE remote to capture the signals from the Logitech 659. The Microsoft remote works well within Xlobby, so I figured if I taught its navigational commands to the Logitech 659, it too would work. It kind of works, but inconsistently, and is not going to be useable as it is working now.

Is there a plug-in I should be using? Or should I use Girder? Or should I be using something else? What do I need to make this work propery?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds more like you have trouble with the Logitech remote learning strong signals then you do with XLobby. If the original remote works with XLobby then the Harmony should too.

Were you able to successfully use the MCE IR Reciever with XLobby and the MCE remote?

Naylia, thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, the MCE remote worked within Xlobby. So, I dug around on the Logitech site and found a way to make it work. If anyone else has this problem, this is what worked for me:

I abandoned having the Logitech 'learn' the commands from MCE remote - I couldn't get that to work properly.

Instead, in the Logitech software, I added a new device to my remote - a Media Center PC with MCE remote. After doing that, all the MCE remote keys were automatically mapped to the Logitech and it works fine now.

I have a media center PC but no remote.......I tried to add a device in the Logitech software but am not having any luck unless it has a remote.

Any ideas?
