moving database

Postby Colby on Fri May 05, 2006 12:15 am

I gots a question ppl.
My music database refered to my music folder E:/
all my music was there. I recently added a harddrive and moved all my music to Z:/
I have done a lot of editing in the database editor. I dont wanna lose these on a new import. I tried a search and replace in the xml, and I always get errors. How can I change drive path (e: to z:] and nothing else in the database? If I change drive path in basic tab and refresh will this mess it up?

Thanks.

Could you open up your music database in your favorite text editor and do a search/replace on e: to z: :?:

Hope this was helpful

Did I not say that? The database is too large and I always get errors. I tried word, notepad, wordpad. No luck. Notepad hangs, wordpad/word generate bad code.

Colby,

Use editor like UltraEdit-32, I just test that and it working.

My best.

Sorry Colby, I thought you were trying to stick in the XLobby relm. My mistake.

Textpad may work...it is pretty powerful.

Yeah I agree, notepad/wordpad/word all suck with big text files, and word does weird things with XML at times.

You could always try frontpage or something similar if you have it. I've had pretty good luck with those too.
