How Does MIMIC Work?

With the latest Xlobby release (2.0.7131.46) I cannot figure out how to get the "MIMIC" functionality to work.

Here is what I am doing.....what part is wrong?
1) I start the Xnet server in my main XLobby server machine.
2) I connect to that server with my Fujitsi 3500 touchscreen via Xlobby running on the 3500.
3) I see that the Xnet touchsreen connection shows up on my server computer in the "who is on the network" window in the F2 area.
4) I press a button that has a click event set to "mimic", (with "ON" in the optional window).

I have tried step #4 on both the server and the fat client. My understanding was that if mimic was enabled (on which machine??), whatever I did on the fat client would also be done on the server. What am I doing wrong?
