I might have a crack at my first real skin.

Before I embark I was wondering whether somebody might be able to help with designing a glass button which will work with the theme I have chosen. I have laid-up the approx main menu page showing a glass button. The image file is attached so you can get the gist.

However, the glass button shown is just the standard glass bar button found in most of your skins. There is no "enter" or "down" version.

I Was wondering whther somebody :

1. already has a glass button with enter and/or down which they think could work and would be willing to give me; or

2. could make up a glass button and/or a enter/down version to work with the exisiting glass button; or

3. had any ideas of what the enter/down button should look like; or

4. could point me in the right direction in relation to creating my own buttons. I have Photoshop 7.

Obviously the buttons are going to be pretty much used throughout the skin so I thought I should get this part sorted before I move on.

Any help would be appreciated.

p.s oh, how do I attach/upload my image ?

I am willing to make or teach you how to create a glass button. It's easy sneezy. Also if you want to email the image (psd) I can make it and send it back with all the layers of your button states. To attach an image you must upload it on the web and then put the link within image brackets in your post. Just make sure the link ends in a image format ie. .jpg or whatever.

Colby

Is there any way I can get in on this class or tutorial on how to make glass buttons? I'm interested in trying to make my own skin also.

Thanks

I am working on a new skinning guide. It includes a section on creating buttons in Photoshop. It is super easy to make them; ask Baddabing, and Jowaldo I gave them tips and their skins are top notch.

Email the psd again, to xlobby(AT SIGN)incolby.com

I have to give credit where it is due - and I can't thank Colby enough for the time he spent sharing his expertise with me. He is not only very talented he is an excellent instructor as well.

That's the best Xlobby news I've heard in quite a while. Huge props and appreciation in advance. I'm typically pretty good at picking up new apps, (and can handle the Photoshop stuff fine) but I'm finding the "take it apart to learn how to build it" approach to skinning really frustrating.
