Configuring MPC with xMPC and xMovieWindow

Postby Flagg on Thu Apr 05, 2007 6:40 am

Hey,

New to Xlobby and I did a search and didn't find a lot of detail...

I'm in the early stages of putting together an HTPC with xLobby as my front end. I'm rather excited to see some of the plugins out there, i.e. for MyHD as I may be slapping in a MyHD card in the near future.

For the time being, I have about 750GB worth of DVDs ripped to my HDs, and am using an older box, but will be moving everything over to a new box and using MPC with FFDSHOW to upconvert.

How can I go about getting MPC up and running properly with xLobby? I can't seem to find much on the search.

I'm using the Dragon skin and MPC 6.4.9.0, with xMPC and xMoviewindow installed. xMPC simply does... nothing that I can see when MPC is running. The progress bar never moves.

And I have no idea how to config xMoviewindow (I just have MPC associated with .ifo file type when loading a DVD, so it launches automatically). Should I be going through setup/file types instead with some command line arguments? I tried this originally with no luck, MPC would pop up and say File type not found.

I'd love to get MPC integrated and it seems like the Dragon skin supports this (albeit not all in English but I've been doing some translating).

Any help would be appreciated.

Update:

Fiddled with File type setting and got MPC to load with just "%parameter%"

However the xMPC plugin doesn't seem to work, the progress bar never moves.

Also, how can I get the controls included with the skin to control mpc?

Hello,

Try to install the french pack, it is optimized for using MPC with all plugins (and XMpc) (make a complete backup of your config before)
So, it will configure the plugin
Then you can take a look at the french skins that will show you how to adapt your skin

I wrote this plugin since age, I even don't remember how it works

What's the pack do, and how do I download it? When I click the download link on that page, it gives me an error, and my French is pretty poor - do I need to register to download?

Ok I downloaded the French pack after searching a bit... but essentially I get the same problem.

xMPC loads ok, but it does not display any info.

The progress bar never moves.

The title stays blank.

It's like it's not getting any info from MPC.

I'm using Win2K SP4, MPC is the same version that came with the French Pack (and now I tried that pack and had the same problem).

Just wondering if anyone with XL2 on Win2K SP4 has been able to get xMPC working, still haven't had any luck.

I too have just recently started messing around with XL and today I had a couple of breakthroughs concerning MPC and xMPC that I thought you might like to hear. Hopefully this will help you.

For getting controls to work, like Play/Pause and Forward/Reverse and Fullscreen:

MPC changed all of their parameter codes with the 6.4.9.0 version. If you start up MPC (exit XL if your running it) and click on View>Options (or Chtrl+o) and under Player>Keys you will find it lists out all the new codes (their 800 and 900 numbers now). Fire up XL, get into skin editor mode, navigate to the Mpc-player screen and find out what the click event is for each of the buttons on that screen. Switch out of skin editor mode and hit F2. Click on Events, then under skin>cmd_videos look for the click events from the MPC window. All I can remember is Plain ecran for fullscreen and goto movies for the stop button. Over on the right hand side of the window you will see an WParam catagory with a number below it (probably 1xx number). Change that number to the new one.

For the title to show I had to get into the skin editor again and change the font size to a smaller font and then suddenly I had a title showup. With the text box selected (I had to click a couple of times in the general vicinity to get it) click on the Display tab of the skin editor and choose a smaller font size.

I don't know what to tell you on the progress bar. I started out using the dragon skin, myself, but switched to the vintage skin when I couldn't fix alot of problems that kept coming up. It was on the vintage skin that I found the solution to my MPC problems.

Also, under file types when you associate MPC with playing video files and DVD's, I was getting file not found until I set-up the command line as follows: "%path%" /play /close /fullscreen. Make sure there are quotes around the %path%. That one alone took me two weeks to figure out  . I also originally had the switches before the "%path%" because I had seen it done that way on a previous post.

I hope that atleast one of these things helps. Let me know if I need to explain anything further, as well.

P.S. I did a quick switch over to the dragon skin and the progress bar doesn't work for me either (Windows XP SP2) but it does in the Vintage skin.

be sure that you have XMpc.dll, mpcinfo.dll, xmpc.png and xmpc_bkgrnd.png in the same directory

Paulio51 thanks! That was a huge help!

I'm thinking about doing one of two things, downgrading to an older MPC, or just living without the progress bar.

But the codes are why the buttons aren't working. Got em going now! :)

badubo is there any plan to update the plugin to support the new MPC?

not yet, because, I'm now mainly working on a VLC based plugin.

for MPC, I use information given by a dll made by the author (mpcinfo) maybe there is an update for it, but I didn't manage to find it yet

Ok, hope it gets updated sometime, in the meantime - I've found out why I get no progress bar - it only happens on DVDs!

If I play a Divx/Xvid (avi), mpg, etc - I get the progress bar and title.

Playing DVDs, there's no progress bar or title.

So maybe it's how MPC handles DVD info.
