zoom & theatertek not playing nicely within xlobby

Help each other out

zoom & theatertek not playing nicely within xlobby

Postby Roscoe62 on Sun Apr 17, 2005 3:28 am

I use both zoomplayer and theatertek 2 in my installation.

I use TT2 for playing DVDs from my movies database, and I use zoom to play TV episodes I've encoded to avi or matroska files from my TVonDVD database.

I've found though that if I play a movie using TT2, and then try to watch a TV episode using zoom, zoom hangs.

I can watch a TV episode first using zoom and it plays fine, and then watch a movie, but if I go the other way - same problem - zoom hangs.

In the filetypes tab I have these commandline switches:

Theatertek
%playlist% /nosplash/

Zoomplayer
/MOUSEOFF /F /Q %playlist%

The only reason I bought zoom into the mix was because tt doesn't support matroska files. But this is becoming a bit of a nightmare to try and track down what's going wrong.

Can anyone offer some helpful advice? Does anyone else also use both TT2 & zoom?

Any replies are appreciated.

QTips:

Thanks for the confirmation. I will install your skin to get some ideas. Hopefully I'll be able to see what's different in your skin that allows it to work well. BTW....what version of zoom are you running?

FWIW: When the problem happens Zoom starts up and it also launches a IE Window and tries to go to the inmatrix website. Almost as if it were trying to look for some help. The only thought I had was that maybe when I stopped Theatertek, the movie was still sitting in the playlist somehow. I'm just using the freeware version of zoom at the moment so it doesn't have the necessary files to play back DVD files. Just a thought.

Lasse:

Thanks for the reply. Yup, I'm still using zoom 4.03 - and it does play matroska files OK. :)

Update:

Most of the time when this happens zoom just hangs while trying to open an Internet Explorer window. But when it DOES manage to go further the IE explorer window takes me to the Zoomplayer Professional Registration page (???!!!)

So I just tried another experiment. I opened Zoomplayer and attempted to open a DVD movie I have on the server. (remember, my version of zoom is unregistered so it can't play DVD files) and ....guess what? It opens an IE page - the Zoomplayer Professional registration page.

I am guessing that, for some reason, when I exit from playing a movie and go to my TVonDVD database, maybe the playlist isn't deleted and it's trying to send zoom the movie I was playing?

I don't know for sure, but I'd be happy to hear if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem might be. :?

You would need to add the "new playlist" to the command that launches zoom. I'm thinking that after using TT, the playlist still resides somewhere in cache so Zoom would try to load that same movie.

It happened to me awhile back and it drove me crazy - I mean, it made me more crazy since I'm already crazy.

Anyway, if you insert the command "new playlist" just before the "execute file" command, it should work.

Thanks Airpost!

I'll give it a try and post back.

BTW....I think MOST of the people that frequent the XLobby site are at least a little crazy! :)

(sigh!)

Sorry, but because I'm selecting an item from a category, I'm not sure exactly which command launches zoomplayer. I have zoom set up in the file types tab to play avi & mkv files (My TVonDVD database are all avi or mkv files) but I'm not sure where I need to insert the extra command to use new playlist.

Sorry to be a pain.

In that case, go back to the File Types tab and select the Zoom line by clicking on it. At the bottom right area, click on the Assign button under Start Event and select the event that has the New Playlist command.

Actually, you will need to create an event first and add the New Playlist command to that event and then do the above.

If there is already a start event assigned, then just edit that event by including the New Playlist command.

Hope it works.
