Marbles,
Nothing has been released yet thus no one else would have pricing or availability. That was the whole point why Wes asked us to contact him.

I'd really like to get the all-in-one digital amp audio card... but we need more info on pricing, availability, etc. I'm very close to just getting something else and forgetting about trying to get Calrad equip... I'd like to support the company but they don't seem to want the support. Too bad too... I know several custom installers of home theater, and more importantly someone that installs high-end systems for commercial properties. Funny how when you neglect the guy with shallow pockets sometime you also lose the opportunity to meet their friends that have deep pockets.

What do you guys think of these...

I'm thinking get a Radio Shack enclosure with 4 of these and a decent outboard power supply. If XL supports splitting the built-in sound card, I have an 8 channel sound card on my mobo. If I can find these for a decent price (not the $80 SI wants - are those guys high!?) that may work. Otherwise, I'm sticking to my original plan, getting the SI T-amp, tearing the guts out, putting in a case and using that (~$30 per amp on ebay)

Granted, these option do not add sound cards but hopefully XL will support splitting the built-in audio card?

Aaron - It's not Xlobby that needs to support splitting the sound card. It's up to the card manufacturer and the drivers that they use. Or "aftermarket" drivers like the KX drivers for the Soundblaster cards. Those work well if you need inexpensive. Then there are all of the more pro cards, meant for multitrack music recording, like the M-Audio Delta series, or RME and others.

Now that TAmp card looks pretty cool :)

Aaron,
That looks like a nice amp card. Notice it is a PCI slot card but does not have card fingers so all it does is use your PC case to hold it and your PC power supply to power it. The difference between this card and Calrad is the built in USB Audio. So this is a possible budget solution that can support 7 channels.
get four to seven of the cards you pointed out.
http://www.si5.com/products.php?pID=4038
Get one of these

get one of these

get four to seven of these
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid ... CH&cpc=SCH
or
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PD552&cpc=SCH (Not sure what the difference is between these last two)

Now will this work ??? Not sure.. I do have one of the USB audio devices and my internal audio card and it works pretty well. I got a hub and 3 more USB audio devices on order. I got one of those 6 channel Ebay amps that came up a while back so I will see if I can throw it together. It will not be as clean as a solution as Calrad's one card solution or their already made audio dongle. If Calrad's PC card amp is close in price to the link you provided then it would be a much easier solution. On the other hand if it is possible to select each one of the mic inputs on the USB audio devices I am getting then having multiple audio input sources then selecting a different USB audio output could open up a lot of possibilities. An XMradio input on one mic, a local FM radio station on another, weather radio on a third, etc.. Switching one mic input of one USB audio to the audio output of another one or two USB audio device would be the challenge. I see the software being a major limiting factor. Running multiple copies of Winamp eats a lot of resources so something smaller for multiplexing would be the key here. Just some ideas here. I am not knocking Calrad's stuff. In fact I am trying to give them some ideas to think about. Since this is really Calrad's thread about their Multizone Audio Dongle we should start a new thread elsewhere about other solutions.. Maybe in the FreeXlobby section ...

Later,
Tom :)

This is where we have been talking about the options so no need to move the convo.

Those solutions look possible if XL comes through on the promise of multi-zone.

I'd also love to support Calrad hardware... I'd prefer the all-in-one usb audio card + amp. BUT since Wes has not replied to my 6 attempts at getting pricing, or any response at all, I must conclude that they do not want my support on the hardware side :(
- So I will find an alternative hardware solution.

and, something I've been watching... http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/hardwar ... one-3.html
I'm also considering getting a few of these... http://cgi.ebay.com/4-100-watt-4ohm-D-c ... dZViewItem

Wes,
I've email your twice, PM'd via this forum twice. I've posted on this thread several times that I'd done this. I have several email addresses and they all work as I send receive on each one daily.

How about you PM me, or email me since it seems that there is some disconnect not matter how I try.

At this point I'm more interested in the all-in-one cards (built-in amp) if they are cost effective.
