What happened to the DVD Managers tab?

Postby jazbo on Fri Apr 16, 2004 8:57 am

Just download and installed the Alpha 4.1 version. Something must have changed since the Help file on the web shows a DVD manager tab. Where can I input the link to DVD Profiler?

Oh btw, great program, really like the interface...

Thanks, that did the trick: deleting the database and re-import the xml file.

Do you have a mixture of ripped and offline movies?

Postby dyeend on Sat Apr 17, 2004 6:21 pm

Hi Jazbo,

Do you have both ripped movies and offline ones?

If so did you have the ripped movies in the dvd profiler database causing you to have 2 listings in Xlobby after completing the import?

The problem I have is that the import based on path causes one set of entries and the import from dvd profiler causes a 2nd set of entries in the Xlobby db. I was wondering if Xlobby was supposed to be be able to match the 2 entries up and consolidate the data. Do you know an aswer to this?

Can you decribe your arrangement of movie data and the result of the imports please?

I actually had only one DVD ripped for testing purpose, so I did not have the duplication problem that you described. My ripped DVD was not in the Profiler. But I think you can manually delete/edit any entry in the database, so may be that can be a work-around.

That being said, I am still not able to play any movie offline or online via the Xlobby interface, I still need to figure out how to pass the right commands to the zoomplayer after clicking on Play in the movie menu... If you know how, please give me some tips...

First of all, can you play the ripped movies from Zoomplayer directly? If so, let's start from the basics:

In the DB Editor, General tab, make sure that you have filled in the right settings here - Location & Daemon Drive.

In the File Types tab, make sure that you are pointing to the Zoomplayer executable file , have it enabled (white), and iso or whatever video file you want to play is included in the Extensions path. The default command line switch should work off the bat. On mine, I added the /q switch so Zoomplayer would close after the end of the movie. Also take note that Offline and Start tab should show the same as the screenshot below:

Lastly, under the Databases tab, click on Edit and the below screen should show up. Under Items, you should see your imported video titles. Click on one and on the right column, make sure you have the right Parameter (the path to the video file). Notice also on the top right is a tick box if want this classified as an offline movie.

If you still have problems, the guru's here can probably help you over at the Chat forum or IRC. Good Luck !

Airpost,

Thanks for the detailed guide. I still need to get zoomplayer pro version to play the files off the HD, but they should now work, since I use PowerDVD to test them out via Xlobby. But I can not get the offline disc to play, nothing shows on screen and the cd door does not open. And when I try to test the event manager for movies:showofflinemessage, I get a Windows error message on "eject", show message worked though. Very strange, I thought these are standard commands and did not expect any problem with them at all...

Jazbo, what does the windows error message say? Are you also using a custom skin by any chance?

I get a Setup error box and the error says "Specified cast is not valid" near the bottom. BTW, what is a chat form?

Chat forum http://www.xlobby.com/chat/

There are people there that might be able to help you out more. You would need java installed since the chat is java based.

Looks like a .NET error message.

AirPost,

I just test the eject command on my XP machine, and it worked fine, so it must be something wrong with my W2K machine or its setup. My question is why doesn't the offline message appear on the screen even if the eject command does not work? I am running W2k SP4 with the latest .NET package installed... thanks again for all your help.

The offline message is pointing to the "moviesoffline" screen. Go to the skin editor and under the Goto Screen tab, make sure the "moviesoffline" screen is in there. If you have a customized skin, chances are that it is not in there.

AirPost,

I am using the default screens, since the command runs just fine with XP, I am not going to worry too much about it on my W2K machine. I am planning to build a new HTPC anyway, so it is probably about time that I install XP on it... Thanks for all your help.

Back to square one! I did a brand new install last night, XP Home SP1, .NET 1.1, zoomplayer pro 3.31 and PowerDVD XP. Ran the test on "moviesoffline" under the Event Manager, and everything worked fine. Then import the collection.xml from DVD Profiler, got all my movies in the database, great! Hit any offline movie, and nothing happened just like before... Very disappointing to say the least. Not sure if that feature is working in Xlobby yet, could anyone kindly confirm? Can you play offline DVDs via the Xlobby Movies screen?

Thanks,
jazbo
