Xnet allows xlobby to be installed on a local machine and use the database from the main xlobby server. It will also allow you to take control of any music zones attached to any other xlobby machines.

Its still very much in the developement stages though.

Thanks for the answer, but I don't understand everything...
1)before, it was possible to connect Xlobby to others computer to control Xlobby and to see databases.

2)now, with Xnet, we can navigate separatly on each computer, that's ok.
But what are the possibilities in multizone?
-is possible to listen to the music stored in the main server with the sound card of the client no audio cables between server and client)?
-or do we have to use the multizone system, with all the audio cards in the server and the only control in the client?

what about videos? and tv?

And is there the possibility to navigate on the net? (weather...)
is it possible to have X10 control? for exemple: I control the light connected to the client with the server?

thanks :)

with an xnet client yes, the music is passed via network to the client machine.

thats the pre xnet way of doing it using a thin client to control the music but you can still mix and match foir the most suitable option.

For videos the data can still be stored on the server machine but needs a fat(xnet) client to replay the stuff.

rhinoman,

From your posts it sounds like you have been able to control zones using XNET successfully. Could you explain how you got it working?

I can connect from a client to the server that's no problem. When I click on the server computer name the box on the right shows the ip and some other info but the control buttons go away and I can't get them back. I'm sure XNET is very buggy because Steven is still working on it but I have never been able to actually control or add a zone. Any insight?

Thanks,
Steve

It is very buggy but I have had it working (sort of), once connected in the box on the right you click on the server machine name and then a "control this zone box" appears (as I recall) , from the normal interface you can then step through the zones set up the machine you are controlling, it should really say "control this machine".

Does that help, if not I'll actually go and do it and come back with more detail, I have no immediate requirement in my setup to use it.

The thin client is the xlobby2sd.exe and the fatclient is the full version running on a different machine using shared databases.

Rhinoman,

I'll have to try it again tonight but from what I remember once I highlight the server computer's name the buttons on the right disappear...
