another shot at my taskbar problem, please help me

Postby jim1234miller on Wed Aug 31, 2005 4:46 pm

Let me give another try at describing my situation. I have a two monitor setup with a flat screen as monitor one and projector as monitor two. xlobby loads on monitor one and theatertek is setup to launch on two. monitor one is also where my task bar resides. when I lunch xlobby everything works fine. I've got the colby skin setup so that there is a button on the main page that when clicked it launches theatertek and goes to a page that has buttons to control theatertek. when I click the main button, theatertek launches and causes the taskbar to become visible, and it is selected. now when I click the xlobby screen the taskbar goes away, but when I click the play button the taskbar again becomes visible and theatertek is selected and the movie plays. now heres the really tricky part, if i click anywhere on xlobby now, theatertek minimizes and pauses the movie. now remeber I have two screens so xlobby and theaterek are supposed to be displayed full screen at the same time. this is driving me crazy!!!

I have a similar setup though I dont use theater tek. I have a 19"LCD Touchscreen as my remote, monitor 2 is my flat panel tv. Different resoultions and everything. Xlobby runs on my monitor, movies, tv and visualizations run on my tv. With Winamp or Zoomplayer.

theatertek launches and causes the taskbar to become visible
.... just a thought, you could launch theatertek upon startup of XL so its not getting launched revealing the taskbar.

You could also drag your movie, audio player to the 2nd screen and let them startup there, then you wont see them until you turn on your projector. Which would be post event play.

You could use xmovewindow plugin to put your movie within a screen so focus wouldnt be lost.

My media launches fullscreen in 2nd window and I never see the taskbar. Hope you figure it out.

I finally just decided to a use zoomplayer instead, and it works but its such a bummer to not be able to use theatertek. the weird thing is that it worked for 2 months.

If your PC is a dedicated HTPC, why just not use LiteStep? It would eliminate taskbar definitely! :-)

Try right clicking on the taskbar and uncheck "Keep the takbar on top of other windows"

This worked for me!

Download TweakUI for Windows XP from Microsoft.
Under General select focus and uncheck Prevent applications from stealing focus.
This worked for my taskbar problems always.
