Proper way to import multi-disc titles from DVD Profiler

Postby cmhardwick on Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:47 am

I've got several movies that are on multiple discs, such as Schindler's List, Das Boot, Pearl Harbor, etc. The discs show up in DVD profiler, and I have my directory arrangement as:

d:\movies\Pearl Harbor\Pearl Harbor - Disc 1\pearl harbor.iso
d:\movies\Pearl Harbor\Pearl Harbor - Disc 2\pearl harbor.iso

and so on. for single disc movies, the ISO is under the title subdirectory, such as
d:\movies\What Ever Happened to Baby Jane\whatever happened to baby jane.iso

When I import or refresh, the multi-disc titles jump around each time, sometime in alphabetical order but no discs listed, or at the front of the list with the discs listed. I've seen a couple of older posts on this, and the main suggestion was use another program, which isn't acceptible to me. Is there some way I can structure my directory or my DVD Profiler information to have these show up properly without having to manually edit the database after every refresh?

Thanks in advance!

While this is not an answer to your question it may still be a solution to your problem. I would suggest using DVDshrink or some other DVD authoring tool to combine both disks into one. This would make viewing easier also. The only drawback I can imagine is that if you are leaving the whole disk intact (menus and special features) then my solution wouldn't work well at all. I have always considered one of the advantages of online movies on an HTPC the fact that you don't have to worry about multipart movies, once they are ripped and combined, you can just watch the whole thing straight thru.

Good luck, whatever you do.
