Problem importing AVI and MP4 video to movie database

Postby Rizlaw on Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:50 pm

I can not get XL's import movies to a database function to work with any of my AVI or NeroDigital MP4 video files. It works with VIDEO_TS folders and IFO/VOB files and generates a movie database, but not AVIs and MP4s.

I guess I must be doing something wrong or overlooking something, but I don't have a clue what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

If you hit f2, then go to databases>import>general.. under extentions, what do you have listed there?

That part controls what gets imported.

Thanks <jowaldo>. :)

I checked. My new installation did not have: avi or mp4 listed. I added both and will now try again.

Edit: No luck. I added "mp4" ("avi") was already listed. It will not import my NeroDigital mp4 files. Any other ideas. :?:

Seems there's a problem in XL2

JoWaldo or developer (Steve):

I think I have found the problem.

The system that will NOT import mp4 or avi files running on my XP Pro x64 box. I don't think it's the OS.

All the the mp4 and avi files are located on SATA drives which are external to the main computer and connected via an ADDONICS/Silicon Image PCIx eSATA controller which is, in turn connected to an ADDONICS SATA Port Multiplier to which 4 Seagate 500GB hard discs are connected with the filetypes in question.

As best I can tell, even though the OS has no trouble seeing my external SATA drives and accessing the mp4's and avi's on them, XLobby does have a problem. Even though the drives are external to the main computer box, they are local to the computer and have drive letters of G:, H:, I: and J:

I might add that Cinemar MLServer/Mainlobby/DVDLobby have no difficulty accessing the video files on these external drives using both ZoomPlayer 5 and TheaterTEK 2.3

I believe this needs to be checked out by XL's developer.

When I set up XL on my other XP Pro system and put a few mp4's on it, XL has no trouble importing the mp4's from the SATA drive located "inside" the XP Pro computer.
