Directory structures for movies

Postby manalex on Sun May 23, 2004 8:27 pm

I have several hard drives that contain backed-up movies. Each hard drive has similar directory structures, but contain different movies, i.e.
C:\movies\drama\citizen kane
D:\movies\drama\casablanca
As a ran out of space I simply added hard drives, now I have several. I set up Xlobby as I usually have before, by referenceing the directories the movies were in. (I now have v.40.2 rel 14).

When I click on the movie button on the main screen on the default skin, I get several blank DVD covers, two are labeled "drama". The others are comedy, action, ect. When I click on one of the "drama" covers I see one of the movies, i.e. citizen cane, but not the other, i.e. casablanca.

The earlier version of the program did not do this. I suspect I'm setting this up wrong, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Please let me know.

I assume you mapped all the drive paths in the F2->Basic->Movie Paths section?

If you have movies spread over multiple drives you need to add a mapping for each one.

for example:

C:/movies/drama/moviename/VIDEO_TS
D:/movies/drama/moviename/VIDEO_TS
X:/movies/drama/moviename/VIDEO_TS

Use the ADD button under the Movie Paths section to browse to your movie directories.

I map to both local drives and networked drives on other PC's. I built a RAID-5 terrabyte server and then added another 500Gig later on another PC.

Also after you map the drives, then go to F2->Databases. Click on "movies", it should be listed. Hit the "Refresh" button on the lower right side.

This will search all the directories you added for movie files.
