Screen specified for Info Screen won't open

Postby Naylia on Wed Oct 26, 2005 4:59 pm

Hey guys,

I have one category where the info screen overlay opens flawlessly, and two other categories where nothing happens...any suggestions on what to look for?

how are the categories opening the overlays?
By command open overlay, or by infoscreen text overlay:whatever?

Are your databases set up with appropriate levels, so there is info screen? And did you import your categories in such a way to have levels? What is different between the working category and the others?

Ahh, I don't not know it was necessary to have a multi-level db to have the infoscreen open. I'll just use a regular event instead. And that is a difference between the one that does work and the ones that don't

Thats what an info screen is. Its the info about the entry. Good Luck.

do you guys think there is any way i could trick XLobby into thinking a db has multiple levels?

I'm trying to add functionality to my m3ulist and my playlists dbs/categories. Seems like most actions are setup so that you select the action, then you select the item that you want to perform that action. I want to select the item first, then select the action. I can do this in the music:details section because that's a multilevel db album->songs that allows infoscreens. For some reason when i use the infoscreen it doesn't execute right away but allows you to choose what to do then executes on chosen item. If i use open overlay it executes the last chosen command on the item in the list and then opens the overlay and whatever you select in the overlay applies to the next item :(

how do you import categories with levels? im pullin my hair out trying to make an info screen for my video files that is similar to the one for my music files. i cant find any difference between them. and when i loaded my video database into the music category in steven's packaged skin, the info screen worked the way i want it to. for some reason i cant recreate it though on my video category

i am using colby's skin, and im a total newb, found this frontend today and have been screwing with it for about 4 hours, and this is where i got stuck. thanks in advance guys!

i got it to work by renaming the category on the info screen "moviesdetails" to go with the catagory on my movies screen called "movies"

im guessing that the first part of the name of the category on the info screen has to have the name of it's parent category to bring up the proper target item. can someone verify that this is the way it works?
