Issue using Xlobby full version on a tablet PC (Progear)

Postby tka on Mon Jan 24, 2005 5:20 am

I seem to hava a problem using Xlobby (full version) on a tablet PC with Windows 98SE. It loads fine until it indicates "Screens" and then just gets stuck.

Has anybody come across this or does anybody have a suggestion what the issue might be?

Many thanks.

Have you tried changing the skin? If so what one are you using? Have you done any updates to the xlobby.exe or anything like that?

I took my entire setup from the desktop (using Jowaldo's skin and with the most recent updates) and copied it over the the progear. Since that wouldnt' work, i copied everything to a different folder on my desktop, then edited a few things by starting that version of xlobby. i took out the start as server and adjusted the resolution, then copied it to the progear. same result, it gets stuck at "screens".

Then i downloaded qtip's media 2.05 (which is a full install) on the progear itself and that gets past the "screens" but gets stuck on "images" every time.

I guess i am unsure exactly how the fat client works: Should i take out all the database references to where the music and the photos are? does the client pc (i.e. the progear need to have foobar installed as well? Right now i don't have foobar in there but everything else (i.e. all the plugins etc).

I tried the thin client but it is just too slow and unresponsive to be of any practical use.

Have you tried a clean install and fresh skin on the tablet?

Just that way you could know if its the tablet or something strange going on with xlobby.

I tried a complete install from scratch (but no plugins, foobar etc) and it worked. However, it hangs when i switch to Jowaldo's skin in 1024x768 resolution

What resolution did you have it set at before? What resolution is your machine itself set to?

Changing resolution tho shouldn't really cause it to not load right.. Have you tried any other skins at that resolution?

In the default skin it seemed to be set ot 1024x768 as well. Haven't tried any other skins but will do that now to see if there's a change to the behaviour.
