Button creation

Postby coach606 on Mon Aug 07, 2006 2:14 pm

Okay, I just got xlobby and I've mastered button creation to simple executable files. What I'd like to do is setup a button to access streaming audio on sirius satellite website through my account.

So I need to get the button to do a quick series of things for me.

1) Load firefox browser home page.
2) Take me to the sirius web site.
3) sign in.

any ideas? Thanks.

50 views and no reply?!?

I know someone knows how to issue batch commands.

Is there a mod or someone who can help me out here or point me in the right direction?

It's not a problem to run Firefox, probably not a problem to go to the page, but you can't tell it from XLobby to log you in.

Why use Firefox, anyway? Don't get me wrong - I'm writing these very words from Firefox :-) but why in XLobby? IE is much better integrated in XLobby, you can create a "box" with IE in XLobby that's totaly integrated, and have it open any page.

But still, that logging... hmm, don't know.

Making it go to the page is easy (I would imagine, since I can make a shortcut that goes to a certain page), then isn't there a "always log on as this user" or such on that page? Never been there, but alot do (xlobby, aximsite, etc...). Other than cookies I have no idea how it'd be done.

FireFox can even auto-type the name and password for you unlike explorer in which you have to select if from the list, but you still have to press the "enter" or "logon" button. Well that depends on the site, I don't know about sirius website. Some sites have "remember me on this computer" option, but I imagine it's implemented through cookies as you say, and all cookies expire :-)

So I basically just create a shortcut to the sirius page and then make a link that executes the shortcut. Sounds good. That was pretty easy.

    Thanks.

Cookies may expire, but if you're going to sirius every day they won't. If you were to leave on vacation for longer than your cookies will last then you'll have to redo that manually...
